Take a scroll through to learn more about our amazing HCA Community Kiln team! 🏺🪴

Meet Nataie Dahl (they/them)! HCA CK’s Studio Manager. Natalie teaches All Level Wheelthrowing Tuesday and Thursday mornings, 9-12PM

What I love the most is the community of students at the studio and the ability of clay to bring people together. This is my first semester teaching classes at Community Kiln. I have been enjoying coming up with new projects to challenge returning students, and seeing continuous breakthroughs with new students.

Hi I’m Meghan Albee (she/her) and I teach Sculptural Handbuilding on Monday mornings, 9:30-12:30PM

I love working at HCA because it allows me to share my love for both ceramics and teaching. My class allows for students to explore their creativity in a way beyond the traditional wheel throwing or handbuilding. It is so gratifying to see my students’ creations and seeing how far they have grown in their ceramic journey.

Meet Martha Gold (she/her), HCA Community Kiln instructor. Martha teaches Intermediate Wheelthrowing, Monday 6:30-9:30PM and All Level Wheelthrowing, Friday 9-12PM

I totally enjoy teaching adult wheel throwing and watching my students’ enthusiasm.
I teach Monday evenings, intermediate adults students, and Friday mornings, all level adults.
I am a member of the Natick Art Association.
“Making pottery is the joy that keeps on giving.”

Meet Mary Habib (she/her). Mary teaches Sunday Evening, 6:30-9:30PM, All Level Wheel Class at Community Kiln and Tuesday Morning Beginner/Intermediate Wheel Class at Hopkinton Center for the Arts.

What I love most about teaching at HCA is watching someone surprise themselves with what they can make. It’s a joy to share my love of clay and see each student bring their own creativity to it.

Meet David LaPierre (he/him). David teaches All Level Wheelthrowing, Tuesday 6:30-9:30PM and Intermediate Wheelthrowing, 6:30-9:30PM.

David’s elegant clay work is wheelthrown, using porcelain and stoneware. David works in series of variables of the same form while manipulating the surfaces. His teaching includes learning from Zen yoga and the physics of clay.

Took me two weeks to decide to make this post🫣. Connect with the artists in your own way💭 Enjoy <3

Me2You:
Everyone I have come in contact with whether it was through a long interaction or something as small as a glance. Whether it was good or bad. Friend, friend of a friend, relatives, acquaintance, teachers, coworkers, or complete strangers. The list could go on. Maybe we never actually had an interaction at all. Maybe I simply remember your face. But if, in some way, our paths have crossed, I want you to know that you have a special place with me, always. I spend a lot of time in my head, and honestly, I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad place to be. I replay experiences. I rethink conversations. I revisit moments. I sit with the emotions that came with them and try to understand what they were teaching me. I translate those experiences and emotions into something that can help me become a better version of myself. And I love that about me. I’ve realized that so many people are afraid to share their emotions, especially publicly, because emotions can be twisted, used, abused, misunderstood, or looked at as a weakness. Sometimes we’re afraid that if we show people what is really happening inside of us, they’ll use that vulnerability against us. But in my eyes, you are not weak for expressing your emotions. Your feelings are valid. You don’t have to hide what you feel just because someone else might not understand it. You don’t have to apologize for being sensitive, emotional, loving, angry, afraid, hopeful, sad, or vulnerable. And if you’ve ever crossed paths with me, I want you to know something:

You are loved.
You are cared for.
You are respected.
You are encouraged.
You are admired.
You are valued.

And everything in between. Whether you believe it or not. So take this message and interpret it in your own way. Let yourself feel. Let yourself connect with the emotions you’ve been carrying, even the ones you’ve been afraid to acknowledge. Because understanding your emotions doesn’t make you weaker. It makes you stronger. And those emotions the beautiful ones, the painful ones, the complicated ones, and everything in between are part of what makes YOU.

Art in LA, 2026
The city of angels is a fertile ground for creativity. Its history of multiculturalism has attracted people from all over the world looking to express themselves and tell their stories. Here are some art works that inspired, challenged and changed me in 2026.

@hospital.of.emotions was formed in the former St. Vincent Medical Center, where artists were invited to design rooms based around various emotions, including joy…
@rebeccacarver

Anger,
@kyronart @bunnyfoofee
@hospital.of.emotions

Fear,
@davidotisjohnson
@hospital.of.emotions

and Hope.
@michellelougee

With over 80 rooms, @hospital.of.emotions was truly one of the more striking art installations I’ve seen and challenged my perspective of hospitals as places not just of life and death, but also every other human experience.

What remains behind
Designed by famous fashion designer now sculptor @h_lang_
Displayed in the first slab-cast modernist house that influenced features such as open floor plans, sliding doors and a connection to the outdoors. @rmschindlerhouse @makcenter

The Chinese Garden @thehuntingtonlibrary is inspired by Ming dynasty scholar gardens in Suzhou, composed of five elements: rocks, water, plants, architecture and connections to literature and culture.

The Spadena House is a landmark piece of Storybook architecture designed by Hollywood art director Harry Oliver. You may have seen his work on Ben-Hur and Scarface (the original one, that inspired the Al Pacino classic). This house served as an inspiration to Imagineers as they planned Disneyland.

Soapbox races began in Dayton, OH with competitors using wooden crates, roller-skate wheels and gravity to race.
@redbullsoapbox has revived this sport with flair.
#redbullsoapboxrace2026

LA based artist @garybaseman revived classic @johniescoffeeshop for an amazing art show featuring his illustrations of LA’s restaurants in his trademark style.

You may have seen this Googie classic in The Big Lebowski, American History X and Gone in 60 Seconds.

After meeting @garybaseman at Johnies, we joined his Peace thru Purr.
Rehearsals were at the @thelabreatarpits
You may recognize Gary’s work from Teacher’s Pet and the boa

On a recent trip to LA, I visited the Hospital of Emotions @hospital.of.emotions - an immersive pop up that utilizes 70 rooms of an abandoned hospital as a palette for artists to express various feelings.

The exhibit spans 4 floors and is designated by the following departments.
6th floor – Resilience, Joy
5th floor – Sadness, Joy, Gratitude
4th floor – Hope, Compassion, Anger
3rd floor – Love, Anger, Gift Store, Flower Shop, Reception

I loved seeing the multitude of ways the artists chose to relay their emotion and found the explanations and context provided on the door placards particularly insightful.

I had 4 favorite rooms: Room 56, Room 28, Room 50, and Room 75.

Come visit with me.

70 artists transformed 80 rooms of an abandoned hospital into one extraordinary exhibition… The Hospital of Emotions. 🏥✨

Each artist was assigned a different emotion and transformed their room into a unique interpretation of it. The result is an immersive journey through diverse artistic voices, perspectives and techniques, inviting you to experience each emotion in your own way.

We wandered through every room, constantly asking each other, “How did someone even think of this?” It was one of the most imaginative exhibitions we’ve experienced in LA, and such a fun afternoon exploring it together as a family. 🤍

This is just a small glimpse of what you’ll discover. If you’re in LA, it’s definitely worth experiencing for yourself. 🎟️🩺👩‍⚕️

Had a chance to go to the @hospital.of.emotions in Los Angeles and it was SUPER COOL 🙃🙂. 73 artists took over a wing of a hospital and 83 different rooms to immerse viewers in a variety of emotions. Image 1: 3d art piece in a room featuring stars crying, clouds, and a star person in bed hugging a moon. The room is bathed in purple light.
