We gathered in exceptional Springtime conditions for our ‘Life as Poetry’ retreat. The blue skies, green meadows, hushed forest, wise trees, playful flowers, radiant birdsongs, delicious meals, deep sleeps, belly laughs, potent practices, hammock rests, sauna sits, hot tub hangs, drum circles, dance parties, greenhouse feast, donkey hikes, ramp foraging, waterfall meditations, falconry sessions, goat giggles and most importantly, the beautiful souls who showed up with tender, open hearts, made it easy to live poetically.

We read poetry, weaved it into our movement practices and meals, wrote it, shared it, embodied it. We let it move through us, tear us apart and make us whole again, in order to clearly see the fleeting, astounding, broken, beautiful miracle of this precious life. Through ritual and art, we consciously left stuff behind so we could bring better stuff forward into our lives. Words here, and even the amazing images, will fall very short of capturing the profound healing, revelation and magic that was created, experienced and reveled in over 4 nights and 5 days.

Suffice it to say, it was extraordinary. Retreats here at Firecreek always seem to unfold this way. This sacred 70-acre heavenly hollow is pure poetry in motion and holds us with a power that is a welcomed mystery. Consider this your friendly reminder to come retreat with us when you can. Trust us when we say, you will not be sorry.

"An IDEA Saved my Life"- Arrow. 💉🏥 I definitely needed my running shoes on 🏃‍♀️ to keep up with Dr. @hanselsito 🩺 founder and director of @ideaexchangemiami and assistant professor at @umiamimedicine. Talk about inspiring- Dr. Tookes founded the IDEA Exchange, Florida's first Needle exchange program and clinic designed to help people who inject drugs, with a goal of lowering the state's high rate of HIV transmission along with other blood-borne diseases. As you can see in the 2nd photo, Dr. Tookes takes a very hands-on approach with his patients and gives on-the-spot treatment.

Dr. Tookes first met Arrow (pictured in the last two images), on 14th street in downtown Miami, under I-95. At the time Arrow was using heroine and cocaine daily. Now in recovery, Arrow works at the IDEA Exchange, is off the streets, and serves as an inspiration and guide to current and former drug users in Miami.

Thanks to @michelles_s and NIDA (National Institute on Drug Abuse) for the opportunity to help document this incredible story.

“Every object that you see has a structure or form based on either the cube, the cylinder, the cone, or the sphere.”

Learn and strengthen your skills through a classical approach to drawing. Through a basic method learn how to draw any object based on one or any combination of these four geometric solids: Cubes, Cylinders, Cones, and Spheres.

This course is for the absolute beginner to intermediate student, it covers all the basics of drawing and learning representational techniques.

Demonstrations, drawing time, and individual critique will focus on the fundamentals of proportion, comparison, shapes, value, and rendering.

Participants will be guided based on their individual skills and will have constant evaluation while drawing. Individual instruction will be provided according to how they are developing through the proposed exercises.
