Barbie collector of all eras since age 3 with a special love for her Bestie Midge! I love early Vintage Barbie history, especially Licensed Products.

My Scene🧔🏿‍♂️👩🏻‍🦰💙❤️

To some, Sutton from the “My Scene” line may not be the most memorable character. But for me as a little black boy who loved dolls, it was amazing to see a male doll that looked like me! And although they did the least with giving his debut doll a basketball jersey, i appreciated that they put effort into his backstory and interests.

They gave his debut doll an easel and artist tools, made him British, and allowed us to learn more about him (along with the other My Scene characters) on the website!

Special thanks to my dear friend @midgefan73 for sharing the runway with me! I was reluctant to put in the effort of piecing together another runway look after #Barbiecon (#NBDCC) in Austin but having a friend to spitball ideals with and share the responsibility with made it much easier!

My goal is to highlight all the black Kens every opportunity I get with these convention fashion shows! ✊🏿

Happy Twinning Tuesday!
Do you have “Barbie” friends?

In the beginning, mine lived only on my phone — collectors I knew by username, not by voice. Then in 2018, I met Laura @midgefan73 at a Barbie event. She was my first real-life doll friend. She invited me to a Barbie club meeting, and we’ve been connected ever since.

Friend, don’t underestimate what one hello at a doll show can turn into. Go to the event. Say hi to the person admiring the same doll you are. Branch out.

The dolls are what bring us together — the people are what keep us coming back.

The Yacht Club Banquet was held on a Friday night at the Barbie convention. Alfred volunteered to help out during the live auction. It helped that time pass more quickly. He did a great job calling out bids from his area.
After that, we went to the Late Night Lido Deck for some dancing.

Highlights of the National Barbie Doll Collectors Convention, 2026, Austin, Texas #nbdcc2026 #2026bcon #austintexas

One of the biggest highlights of attending National Barbie Collectors Covention is by far the friends I get to see in person! I have a Barbie shirt that reads "Find your tribe, love them hard" and that line could not be more fitting for this event. Imagine being surrounded by 850 people who all love Barbie as much as you do, and practice Barbie's message of "You can be anything". It's pure magic!

If I have any regrets at all about this year's convention it's that there was not enough time to just hang out with everyone and catch up, and I didn't get photos of all of the amazing people I did get to see! Some of my dearest friends are missing from this collection and for that I apologize - just know I had so much fun hanging with you that I totally forget to even get a photo.

I love you all and if you're not in a photo, know you are definitely in my heart! Special thanks to my hubby too, who may not be a Barbie guy but is always the wind beneath my wings! See you next year Barbie tribe!! 🩷

Which version of pregnant Midge did you have?
In 2002 - Mattel introduced pregnant Midge with a magnetic detachable belly that held a tiny baby. Originally, she did not have a wedding ring - and was pulled from the shelves at Walmart. She was repackaged and a ring was added. She was part of the Mattel Happy Family dolls. Midge was married to Allan.
Midge collector Laura Maar - said, “Despite what you may have heard, Midge was NOT DISCONTINUED! Only repackaged. “

The Barbie movie poster redone with a Midge doll

Our family is so excited — we’re going to have a baby! We can’t wait to tell Barbie® doll!

Lately we’ve been spending a lot of time setting up the nursery. There are so many things a new baby needs: bottles, toys … it’s so much fun to pick everything out! We bought the cutest onesies and little footed pajamas! Now more than ever, we’re one big loving family.

This is my favorite picture of Alan® and me on our wedding day. That was the start of our wonderful family. Ryan™ is our first-born child. He is 3 years old now. Alan and Ryan like to go to the park for picnics. Ryan likes to visit Baby Doctor Barbie with me. Ryan can’t wait until the day arrives that we can bring his new little sister home. We haven’t decided on a name yet. What would you name her? Today we are going to bring the baby to Dr. Barbie for her first check-up. She is our best friend. And that’s how we became one happy and loving family!

Alan® and I are so excited. We’re having a baby in just a few months! We talked about finding out Which version of pregnant Midge did you have?
