Had a lot of fun with this one. But we seriously we do enjoy making AI more accessible and human centric. Though I think this made me look older I just went with it. If you missed the future of creativity session this year @midwestcon_ you missed a lot.

This is the AI risk we’re not talking about enough. Not killer robots. Not superintelligence. A confident wrong answer moving through a system too fast for humans to question it.

AI’s profits can be private.
But its harms can become public.

So why shouldn’t the benefits become public too?

That’s what makes @midwestcon_
different.

We’re working with the City of Cincinnati, policymakers, innovators, and leaders like Congressman Greg Landsman to explore what responsible AI governance looks like—not just in theory, but in practice.

AI shouldn’t just create private profit. It should create public good.

Cincinnati has an opportunity to help build that model.

Let’s make sure the AI future works for more of us.

Keep disrupting. 🚀

I appreciate WLWT and Aaron Thomas covering MidwestCon even if I wouldn’t have chosen the “AI is going to kill us all” headline. 😅

The next five years will be more disruptive than the last 50

We have to decide how we deploy AI in ways that enhance the human experience. That means advancing innovation while building safeguards, creating smart policy frameworks, and reaching a level of cooperation across government, industry, and communities that we simply haven’t seen before.

I’m an optimist.

But I’m a pragmatic optimist.

The future we want isn’t inevitable. We have to envision it, build it, and fight for it.

That’s why we’ve brought policymakers, technology leaders, community leaders, and global thinkers from across the country together here in Ohio.

And @disruptionnowtech Now is helping businesses in the absence of policy guidance to deploy in a way that empower their employees and does so safely.

These conversations about AI shouldn’t only happen in Silicon Valley or Washington.

Ohio can help lead them. And we will.

Brits vs. Americans: who wins on real estate taxes? 🇺🇸🇬🇧 Me and @bolaranson across the pond broke it down. Same game, different rulebook.

Let’s talk capital gains. In the US, sell an investment property for a profit and you owe capital gains tax, but hold it over a year and you get the lower long-term rate. In the UK, they pay Capital Gains Tax too, with their own rates and a smaller annual tax-free allowance.

But the big US edge is the 1031 exchange. We can roll our gains into the next property and defer the tax, something the UK doesn’t offer the same way. Different systems, but the lesson is universal.

As MidwestCon @midwestcon_ 2026 comes to a close, I am reflecting on an incredible last day at UC Digital Futures. Beyond the breakthrough technologies, what made this gathering truly unforgettable was the energy in the room—the authentic connections, real conversations, and the shared commitment to driving meaningful impact for our community, our state, and our nation.

We moved well past the surface-level hype to tackle the critical questions defining our collective future:
The Human Element & Workforce: Protecting human advantage, navigating workforce transitions, and embedding empathy into the age of synthetic intelligence.
Economic & Industrial Revitalization: Harnessing Physical AI to power the Midwest’s industrial future and convert tech momentum into long-term regional wealth.
Ethics, Governance & Law: Defining frameworks for responsible AI, aligning state and national policy, and maintaining public trust.
Critical Infrastructure: Deep-diving into data center growth, rising energy demands, and their tangible impact on local communities.
Sector Breakthroughs: Unpacking practical AI applications across healthcare, finance, law, and the creative arts.
A sincere thank you to our keynotes, panelists, and visionary leaders who shared their expertise and strategic vision: Rob Richardson, NICOLE DUNBAR, CMS, Kelly Cohen, Greg Landsman, Bernie Moreno, Jon Husted,
Magdalena Grossman

Your leadership elevated every track.
This milestone event would not have been possible without our host venue, The 1819 Innovation Hub, alongside our founding sponsors, ecosystem partners, and the dedicated volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes.

2026 proved that our region is a major force in the AI ecosystem. We tackled hard conversations, established clear goals, and built lasting partnerships.
Take a look at the video recap below to see how it all unfolded—and let's carry this momentum straight into MidwestCon 2027! 🚀

Who has it better in real estate: Americans or the British? 🇺🇸🇬🇧 I broke it down with @bolaranson from across the pond. Same game, totally different language and rules.

Start with the taxman. We answer to the IRS, they answer to HMRC. And the words are different too: what we call an apartment, they call a flat, and what we call real estate, they call property.

But here’s what’s the same everywhere. Owning income-producing property builds wealth, no matter the country or the accent. The tax codes differ, but the principle of ownership is universal. Curated by @doctaj @midwestcon_

Comment the word OWN and I’ll help you build wealth through real estate, wherever you are.

I got on stage and dropped a tax strategy most real estate investors completely sleep on. It’s called a cost segregation study. It can save you thousands while your property still appreciates.

Here’s how it works. Instead of depreciating the whole building slowly over decades, a cost seg study breaks it into parts that depreciate much faster. That front-loads big paper losses in the early years.

Now the magic: you get major write-offs today while the property keeps going up in value. Deduction now, appreciation later, all from the same asset. That’s how the wealthy stack tax benefits.

Comment the word TAX and I’ll break down how to use a cost segregation study.
