While the international community calls for a ceasefire, Israel decide with US support that they don’t care they will continue to commit genocide while the UK sits quietly clapping and looking on! Shame on you all who abstained too. You are all baby killers!

On December 9, 2023, I spoke at the National Rally in London, the day after the US exercised its veto power to block a resolution endorsing a permanent ceasefire from passing at the UN security counsel.

Even though the Palestinian people have been abandoned by world powers including the US, UN, ICC, and individual states including the governments of Arab states who simply have not imposed enough concrete measures to stop this genocide, people of conscience worldwide will not abandon the Palestinian people. This is the message.

Direct action is the only way. Keep marching, organizing, striking. Calling every representative. Occupying their offices. Keep blocking the ports, highways, bridges, airports and train stations. No business as usual. Shut down public spaces. Keep boycotting and divesting. Calling urgently for sanctions. Keep amplifying Palestinian voices. Keep shutting down the arms manufacturers. A great place to donate is @pal_action because the funds they collect go to organizing actions to shut down arms manufacturers (buying red spray paint, ladders to get on roofs and really practical tools) and getting protestors out of jail. If you won’t put your body in the line then at least support those willing to do so.

Thank you to the following organizations for having me:

Travels of a Humanitarian Filmmaker

Matt Robinson, aka Muhammad Abdul Mateen, returned to Aston University after 2 years to once again deliver a truly insightful recount of his experiences abroad on humanitarian expeditions as a filmmaker for charities.

During the talk, Matt touched on his upbringing in Bristol and journey to accepting Islam as a young man. He then recounted his work, including: his visit to Tanzania to document open heart surgeries on babies; his reflections visiting a Yazidi refugee camp; his trip to Bangladesh to visit the Rohingyas and the importance of putting the beneficiary’s dignity first; as well as briefly mentioning his trips to Somaliland, Iraq and Yemen, which included a near death experience. Matt then took us on his experience of the Rickshaw challenge he did in Pakistan when he visited to document the floods last year and his K2 base camp trek.

Matt also reflected on his trip to Palestine for a half marathon, recounting the apartheid system he witnessed by Israeli security. This opened the floor for discussion with the audience about what university organisations and students can do for the Palestinian people in this time of urgency.

This talk proved to be insightful into the plight of victims of humanitarian crises across the world, and inspiring with pragmatic advice for all those who wish to get involved in such work in the future. We would like to thank Matt and his wife Farah for coming down and delivering this talk. And to all those who attended and supported our continued fundraiser at the end. You may have noticed Matt signing copies of a book in the pictures - make sure to check out Matt’s page @migrationfilms for details about his newly published book: 104 in the shade - Travels of a Humanitarian Filmmaker, to read more details about each of his ventures!

Please do keep updated with HRSoc for our future events, and looking forward to seeing you all again soon!💙🕊

Check out @migrationfilms - great capture of the march and events on Saturday.

Repost @migrationfilms
*** ARMISTICE MILLION MARCH*** This was the highest number of people ever in a Palestine protest in London. Saturday 11th
November 2023, calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

@rishisunakmp and @suellabraverman had tried to vilify the March as hate marches, buts they weren't. The hate came from the far
right, which Braverman herself must be held accountable for.

Yesterday (4.11.23) more than 40,000 Londoners of all ethnicities and religions came out and called for a ceasefire, showing solidarity with people of Gaza and Palestine.

Since the 7th of October more than 9,000 Gazan’s have been brutally massacred, which included more than 2,000 children and babies. This ongoing massacre, ethnic cleansing and genocide of the Palestinian people must be stopped and condemned.

Next weekend we will march again for a ceasefire and a free Palestine;
When; Saturday 11th November
Where; Hyde Park Corner
Time; 12PM

Despite these marches and rallies being called as “hate marches”, we will continue to take to the streets of London to call for a ceasefire as we as HUMANS do not accept this genocide!

Show your solidarity for Gaza and Palestine and show up next weekend- despite TFL “coincidentally” suspending trains on 4 lines until 3pm!
We will walk to Hyde Park Corner if need be !
