Mid-September of 2026 I pulled the trigger on a bike frame purchase. A friend had a lightly used, custom made, titanium Laird BMX frame that he'd had on Marketplace for over a year.

Now, the last BMX bike I bought was a 2010 Eastern Axis that I purchased in January of 2010. Sixteen years later, it had about as many miles on it as I would have put on a bike IN A WEEK back in 1985.

Austin said "hey man let me get a pic and send it to Laird" ...and that is the pic above, of me holding the frame, outside The Line Skatepark in Kinston, where I picked it up from Austin.

I was horrified to see that pic floating around the internet a couple hours later. I had not planned to announce the purchase, and I am not proud of how out of shape and how old I look and feel these days. Also, on the subject of not being proud of things, my riding abilities these days have no requirements for such a nice bike.

All that said... I have been working on getting out to the park more often, and I've been working on building out this new titanium work of art. More to come on that soon.
