POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Incredible scene last night at our @aseethedoom show at The Double Wide in Dallas.
Promoter (Rhys with @nocoastfest who is fantastic) was cool with kicking open a garage door in the venue the second we started (never been done there before for some reason?) in order to just let anyone around come through.

Gave us a great crowd, BUT EVEN MORE IMPORTANTLY it gave that crowd the opportunity to experience @texas_filth doing his bonkers all tape-based drone, glitch, percussion loop stuff from the middle of the floor.

I'm still riding the existential high wave of the evening, felt like an all-timer of a night.

A pure distillation of so damn many aspects of the present human existence that I consider most important.

Thankfully, I may never get over it.

Tour is coming up next month. Unfortunately, we had to cancel our show at Freetown in Lafayette due to not being able to find a local band to play with.

It's a joy to say that the Black Duck with Elena Setién record is officially out..! Grab it while copies are copious!

Big thanks to everyone at Thrill Jockey who worked on it with us: especially Derek Shelpr, Mike Boyd, and Bettina Richards. And Cody Falco on the getting-word-out side of things.

Thank you Leslie Baum for the fantastic cover painting!
Thank you Matt Leffler-Schulman for the glimmering mastering job!

Lastly but never leastly big thanks to Nick Broste who recorded and engineered the recording with great flair, taking it all a notch higher.

Let's get into this new thing! Love & joy to all.
And see Black Duck at Sound & Gravity 2026!

sometimes you may have finally earned the executive producer title that has so eluded you for your entire life.

such a circumstance is discussed during episode 1127 of the Kreative Kontrol Big Wig podcast, because Elena Setién and Black Duck’s Bill MacKay and Douglas McCombs are here to discuss their self-titled debut album, their history as collaborators, Douglas’ recent travels with Tortoise, BASIC, and Yr Knives, the role improvisation and composition plays in their respective and collaborative work, the significance of musical intuition and listening, why Elena was keen to learn more about Native American and Indigenous history and how her lyrics may reflect that knowledge, thoughts about their next record together, which I may or may not be executive producing, upcoming shows, other future plans, and much more.

it was a pleasure to speak with Elena, Bill, and Doug, and I hope you find time to hear our Kreative Kontrol talk, and listen to this new collaborative album when it’s out on August 28. thanks!
