The other day I got to experience one of those rare days in life where everything goes great and you really feel like you’re killing it.

I did a work event on the Strip in the morning, drove up to the crag, hiked an hour uphill, warmed up by sending my project, this epic 65m 5.14b (it perfectly breaks down with ledges in the right place to rest your way up it as your first pitch of the day… if you’re pressed for time anyway), then jogged down and made it home before my kids were back from school.

It made me so grateful to live in a place with convenient access to rock and an amazing local climbing community - thanks for the belays to everyone up there… @james_lucas got this drone footage from across the crag, while he was belaying someone else. Not sure if that’s good or bad…

Exactly eight years ago, I offered my friend @mikedoyleca a friendly favor.
This is how it turned out.

The Maze!! I got to do an amazing slot canyon in Red Rock last weekend to celebrate a friend’s birthday. 11 of us quested down the canyon! So cool! It really exceeded expectations - it’s nice to see that despite all the time I’ve spent adventuring around the canyons there are still incredible spots that I haven’t seen. I shot a bunch of pics and videos of friends playing around - I managed to avoid ever getting in the water but most of the team swam here and there. Good stuff!

Late photo dump for July: Climbing and friends and rain and hiking and cottages and water and birthdays and reunions and travel and needles in the eye.

After an incredible 36-year journey, my time with Maxim Ropes has come to a close. I want to express my deepest gratitude to everyone involved in this remarkable chapter of my life.

It all began in 1988, when Jay Repass, owner of New England Ropes (which would later name their climbing division Maxim Ropes), reached out to me to test their innovative kernmantle climbing ropes. That initial connection blossomed into a rewarding partnership, leading to my role as Team Captain of the Climbing Team and a longstanding sponsorship.

In 2007, Maxim Ropes (New England Ropes) was acquired by Teufelberger, a family-owned company based in Austria. As my own career evolved and my role as a top-tier climber changed, I transitioned into positions like Athlete Manager and Social Media Creator, roles I held until the end of January 2025.

Ultimately, as Teufelberger and I couldn’t reach an agreement on a new contract, I felt it was the right time to step aside and make way for the next generation. I am so grateful for the opportunity to have worked alongside some of the world’s most talented climbers—men and women who truly excelled in their respective niches.

Thank you to all the athletes, photographers, colleagues, and friends at Teufelberger and New England Ropes for the unforgettable experiences and the privilege of being part of your team. Here’s to new adventures ahead!

I’ve spent the last month at home in Vegas projecting a hard sport route at a local sport crag (in between parenting and work travel - there’s been a lot of real life mixed in!). When I started working on the route I thought it was maybe the hardest thing that I’ve tried, but now that I’m getting closer to sending I’m not so sure. Funny how that happens. But it’s been great having a project to stay motivated. And it’s such a beautiful wall!
