In a 185-pound freestyle wrestling match, Logan Kent stepped up to the mat at 175 lbs against an opponent who weighed in at 195, and still chose to compete without hesitation.

No excuses. No backing down. Just heart.

He didn’t come out with the win this time, but what he showed out there matters more — toughness, perseverance, and true dedication to the sport. The kind you can’t teach.

This is what warriors are built on.

Saturday night at Lumber City Combat Sports was one to remember 👊🔥

Our BJJ black belt and head Jiu-Jitsu coach, Rick Rogers, stepped into a tough submission-only NoGi match and absolutely dominated from start to finish — controlling every position, securing takedowns, and constantly hunting submissions. All while training only two days a week due to his work and life commitments. That’s dedication.

Coach Erik Herbert, our professional MMA fighter and head coach of the LCCS MMA team, came out of retirement and delivered a dominant kickboxing performance. Stepping completely outside his comfort zone — no clinch, no takedowns, just pure striking — something he’s never relied on before, securing the win. Beyond proud of you, Coach.

We also had two of our amateur fighters take on their very first striking-only bouts. Jace stepped into his first Muay Thai fight and came out with a win 💪 And Ben showed incredible heart in his first kickboxing fight against a seasoned boxer. He didn’t get the win, but gained invaluable experience and proved what he’s made of.

To everyone who competed — we couldn’t be prouder. It takes courage, discipline, and heart to step into that ring. This is what growth looks like. This is what our team is about. 🖤

Seven years ago today, @mikefrombuffalo reached into his backpack on top of the London Eye and pulled out an “Air Force Girlfriend” shirt.

Fast forward to being married, buying our first home, raising two dogs, and building a life that’s even better than I imagined…

Two Days. Two Cities: Rochester and Buffalo. One Mission. Over 110 bodies on the mat. Over 130 people in person to support. Total raised $5,212.25 for our Memorial Day Community Open for @wedefyfoundation . There are no words. All of your actions of being there and donating speaks more than anything we can type. Thank you to @queencitychessclub @breezybowls_716 @vetsonestopcenter and of course the gyms that gave their mats to make it happen @shogunfightco and @lumbercity_combatsports . As always my heart is full because of the love and support from a community that loves to hug and choke each other!!

The Buffalo BJJ community continues to show up and support @wedefyfoundation . We don't get to do any of this without each and every one of you donating and getting on the mats. Awesome time today. Memorial Day Community Open Mat and first @wedefyfoundation one in Rochester at @shogunfightco . Thank you for all that came out and helped us hit our goal. None of this happens without strong community support and belief in the mission. As always I stand in complete awe of those who show their support on and off of the mats for this cause.
