Lecture Series: Michael Kehoe “A Conversation About Filmmaking” FREE EVENT. Open to the Public. Award-winning filmmaker and Trumansburg HS graduate Michael Kehoe, returns to his hometown of Trumansburg to share stories, insights, and information on how to work in many different aspects of the film industry. The presentation will be moderated by Gretchen Van Valen, and a Q&A session will follow. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Michael’s family moved to Trumansburg, NY, and he was deeply involved in theater, producing, and directing at the age of 16. He attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts as an actor. His first job in Hollywood was as the gym assistant to Sylvester Stallone on Rocky IV (1985). Michael worked in production, and in 1994 he directed a short film titled Second Dance (1994), which became an official selection at the Sundance Film Festival & the Berlin Film Festival. Prism Pictures approached Kehoe to direct an action-adventure script he wrote titled Dominion (1995) in 1995. Michael formed Taughannock Entertainment and has produced, written, and directed several films and developed, wrote, and directed a television show for the Food Network titled "Catering Impossible," starring Tom Cruise. Kehoe wrote and directed a short film titled "HUSH" that won 34 Awards. Kehoe wrote and directed the feature inspired by the short film that is titled "The Hatred," produced by Malek Akkad (Halloween) and distributed by Lionsgate.

🏆 BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY - NASHVILLE HORROR FILM FESTIVAL! 🎥 A huge congratulations to our incredible Director of Photography, @lucasdarrinmiller for winning Best Cinematography at the Nashville Horror Film Festival this past weekend for Valley of the Horntak! This was our Tennessee Premiere and it did not disappoint! From the beginning, we knew the Kentucky woods needed to be more than just a backdrop, they needed to feel like a character themselves. Beautiful one moment, threatening the next, and increasingly claustrophobic as Julian and Thomas descend deeper into the world of the Horntak. Lucas captured that vision beautifully. Independent filmmaking demands creativity, adaptability, and an incredible amount of trust between departments. Lucas and his camera team helped give Valley of the Horntak its distinctive visual identity, turning the forests of Southern Kentucky into a place filled with atmosphere, dread, mystery, and some truly unforgettable imagery. 🎬 ACTOR SPOTLIGHT — MICHAEL PERL as AARON In Valley of the Horntak, Michael Perl brings depth of experience to Aaron, helping ground a story where very human struggles collide with something far more disturbing lurking in the Kentucky wilderness. Michael brings an authenticity and grounded presence to Aaron that fits perfectly within the atmosphere of Valley of the Horntak. In a film filled with unsettling creatures, a mysterious cult, and forces capable of altering both mind and flesh, Michael’s performance helps keep the story rooted in something real. Michael came to Horntak Valley with an extensive career spanning more than three decades across television, film, and the Los Angeles stage. Many audiences will remember him as Winston Egbert on the hit 1990s series Sweet Valley High, a role he played across dozens of episodes. His television credits also include appearances on Scandal, Chuck, Third Watch, Eleventh Hour, The Playboy Club, and The Bold and the Beautiful. His film work includes Stalked by My Doctor: A Sleepwalker’s Nightmare, Lena and Snowball, Aloha with Love, Chaos on the Farm, Trapped in the Cabin, and Craft Me a Romance. A UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television graduate, Michael has also spent years working in Los Angeles theatre and expanded his work behind the camera as a writer and producer. Along with his wife, Melissa Lugo, he founded Burton Street Productions, producing award-winning shorts and web series. 🎬 ACTOR SPOTLIGHT - WILLIAM MANN as THOMAS At the heart of Valley of the Horntak is a fractured relationship between a father and son and William Mann brings Thomas to life with the anger, vulnerability, and intensity that relationship demands. Thomas enters the woods alongside his estranged father, Julian, searching for a missing boy. But the deeper they travel into Horntak Valley, the more the search becomes something else entirely. Old wounds surface. Trust is tested. And what waits for them in the forest forces Thomas to confront horrors neither of them could have imagined. William delivers a grounded performance that helps anchor the film as the story moves deeper into folk horror and the increasingly disturbing world of the Rite of Cycle. His chemistry with Michael G. Kehoe, who plays Julian, gives the film much of its emotional backbone- the supernatural threat may surround them, but the conflict between father and son is painfully human. 🎬 ACTOR SPOTLIGHT: MICHAEL G. KEHOE AS JULIAN At the heart of Valley of the Horntak isn’t a creature, a cult, or a mystery. It’s a broken relationship between a father and his son. And Michael G. Kehoe carries much of that emotional weight as Julian Dixon. Julian is a complicated man- an alcoholic, an estranged father, and someone who escaped Horntak Valley years ago but never truly escaped what happened there. When a missing child forces him back into the woods, Julian must confront the place, people, and secrets he spent much of his life trying to leave behind. Michael brought something essential to the role: humanity. And film critics have noticed. FictionMachine praised Michael for bringing a “valuable grounded quality” to Julian and described his character as the film’s emotional anchor. CineDump called his performance one of the film’s biggest surprises, praising the sincerity he brings to Julian and noting how effectively his performance carries the emotional weight of the story. Macabre Daily also singled out Michael for his compelling performance, particularly the emotional toll his character carries from growing up within an abusive community and the difficult choices he make as a parent. That depth comes from an accomplished filmmaker and storyteller in his own right. Michael is an award-winning writer, director, producer, and actor whose filmmaking career includes Second Dance, Dominion, HUSH, The Hatred, and 99 Problems.
