It’s a tricky thing when brands approach you to try their products. Especially skincare products. And especially skincare products for the twins as well. But when it came to @biodermasouthafrica ,whose mission it is, to scientifically preserve the skin’s natural balance, it was a no-brainer. We’re not sure whether #tbt is still a thing, but it doesn’t really matter, because we love this #myfirstvida campaign, so it was definitely worth a throwback. When @vidaecaffe_official approached us to create a campaign, celebrating their very first store in Kloof street, Gardens, we looked back at the early days for design inspiration. Their iconic black cork menu boards became the foundation for the campaign. Each element was made up of typography, placed individually, letter by letter, creating a super-simple, but super-effective result. From the social content, to the limited edition coffee bag label, the designs were handcrafted with the individual letters, originally used on the first vida menu boards. The campaign was underpinned with the hashtag #myfirstvida, where consumers could reminisce about their first vida experience. It’s been a journey, 18 years in the making, fuelled with love, passion and really good coffee. So it’s Father’s Day. My third actually. And still, it’s hard to believe. Hard to believe that when Father’s Day comes around, I am included in that Day. Of course there are constant clues and reminders. The matchbox car I find under my pillow. The unicorn stickers plastered over my laptop. The Little Mermaid soundtrack that plays in my car, even when I am driving around twin-free. The unicorn toothbrush in the toilet. The Peppa Pig and Batman water bottles in the fridge. The squashed Flings on the backseat of my car. And yet despite these obvious reminders that I am, in fact a grown-up parent, there are moments, when it still all feels completely surreal, and I look at Jordy and Riley with complete disbelief. But I also look at them with wonder and awe and so much love, it almost hurts.
