POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
After 2 years of classes, working on 6 cycle films, 3 visual essays, and 3 thesis films, I finally graduated with a Masters in Film Editing from the American Film Institute. The first in my family to have a masters degree!! The graduation was held at the historic TCL Chinese Theater and I purposely never saw a movie there these last 2 years so graduation could be the first time I stepped foot inside. The theater was just as majestic as I thought it would be. Might sound weird, but it felt like the hands and footprints and stars of film legends (Spielberg, MJ, the Avengers!!) out in the front entrance, and the thousands of filmmakers that have shown their movies on that screen were ‘passing the torch’ onto us next generation. AFI was one of the best things to ever happen to me not just because of the excuse it made for me to move to Los Angeles, but because of the multitude of knowledge my professors, guest speakers, and mentors have passed onto me. I still can’t believe I get to tell stories for a living, I’m so lucky. On to my next dream!!!

Ur 20? B.F.A.? 4.0? 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️

I feel like I just moved down to Savannah yesterday and I’m already gone. I can’t say my journey through college was easy… not at all. Art school may sound like it’s fun and games but trust, some of those classes really tested me. I’m so happy to have met great people, my friends and coworkers for life. Every opportunity at this school was a learning opportunity and I feel more excited and confident than ever to step into the film & TV world.

Graduating brought up many emotions for me. Not having school anymore which is all I’ve known for the last 15 years, leaving behind my friends that still have a year or so left to finish, the friends I graduated with moving on to all different parts of the earth, not really having set “what’s next” plans past June, but most of all, there was a sadness from knowing my sister and great uncle didn’t make it to see it happen. They were two of my biggest cheerleaders always excited about what I was doing and that I was doing well. I know Renee would’ve been screaming the loudest in the audience and Uncle Junior probably would’ve gifted me another $2 bill or one of his caps. It’s such a weird feeling, them not being around, but I will continue to carry their memory with me.

I don’t know what else there is to say than to my SCAD friends (and cool professors) when you read this I want you to know: First you’re a real one for making it this far in the caption but also, there is no me without you. You will always have a spot in my story. You have helped me in ways that you are probably unaware of. I hope I always gave you a reason to laugh or smile and I hope I always made you feel seen and appreciated. I love each and every one of you and I mean it when I say keep it touch. Genuinely please annoy me. I am a starving artist I will be by my phone. Until we meet again (hopefully on set😉)!

Words can’t describe how full my heart is as I look back on the experience of making this film. I’m so grateful to the American Cinema Editors for recognizing my work on “A Winter’s Song” at the ACE Eddie Awards last week.

This movie was a labor of love — a group of Armenian creatives coming together to represent our heritage with pride. Having that work recognized by my peers has reaffirmed for me (and hopefully my kids) the value of authentic representation and taking pride in one’s identity.

Congratulations to all the nominees and winners — getting to know you was the best part of this experience. I am forever honored and grateful to be a part of this community of artists who share my passion for telling stories!

The always fabulous ACE Eddie awards had a very special NY influence this year! So many NY nominees, and four of them had been my assistants long ago: Shelby Siegel, Laura Weinberg, Brian Kates and Myron Kerstein! So happy and proud of these good friends. ❤️

AND Ang Lee received the Golden Eddie award 🏆 and brought his post peeps together for an all-star reunion of talent (including my hubby Gary Levy!) Ang’s speech was dedicated to Tim Squyres, as they have been working together for 35 years!

An amazing wonderful night.
Much love and thanks to our incomparable staff at @acefilmeditors led by Jenni McCormick @jennimcx 🦄 and our president Sabrina Plisco @sabrinaplisco
