If Sun Ra taught us anything, it’s that music isn’t just something you hear… it’s somewhere you can go. Los Angeles songstress, composer, and bandleader @jimettarose invited us into that destination with the world debut of MettaSun, an operatic experience inspired by one of our greatest ancestors.

After receiving what she described as a creative download from Sun Ra, Jimetta began building an entirely new universe… one that extends beyond music into mythology. MettaSun is more than an upcoming album; it’s a living world filled with original characters, elaborate costumes, immersive storytelling, and spiritually uplifting music rooted in love, imagination, and possibility.

On the @grandperfs stage , Jimetta paid homage to Sun Ra’s limitless vision while collaborating with @thevoicesofcreation, @shafiqhusayn, and the Everything Raw movement to create an experience where sound, color, and joy became acts of resistance. For one evening, the audience stepped through the portal and into MettaSun.

It was an honor to document this momentous performance on @arthousefilmlab XX 400 film with my Canon EOS-3, preserving another chapter in Los Angeles’ ever-expanding creative history.

Happy Father’s Day to an amazing dad. ❤️

Thank you for always holding it down for us. Through every high and low, you’ve been a constant source of strength, support, and positivity. You show up every day with love, patience, and a willingness to do whatever it takes for the people you love.

Thank you for guiding the kids, cheering them on, making them laugh, and helping them become the incredible young people they are today.

I’m grateful to be on this crazy ride with you.

We appreciate you, we love you, and we are so lucky to call you ours. Happy Father’s Day!

Today my heart is overflowing.

Milani graduated from 8th grade at Debbie Allen Middle School, and I can hardly believe how fast the years have gone by.

Having Sean, Milani and Jahi together today was such a gift. Sean is finishing his second year at UC Santa Cruz and continues to make me proud beyond words. Jahi is finding his path and growing into a remarkable leader with a heart of gold. And Milani is stepping confidently into her next chapter, pursuing her dreams with courage and passion.

There have been challenges along the way, and the journey hasn’t always been easy. But moments like this make every sacrifice, every late night, every worry, and every prayer worth it.

Al says that raising them is one of the noblest things we will ever do. Looking at them today, I couldn’t agree more.

I’ll share more pictures later, but today I want to focus on this one. This moment. A snapshot of three incredible young people who remind me every day what truly matters.

Watching them flourish and become the people they are meant to be is one of life’s greatest blessings. My heart is full. ❤️ @micholdenfresh @sean_deezyy @milani.dances @jahigotgame @officialdadance
