Ever wondered how a sofubi figure goes from raw vinyl parts to a finished collectible? This is the process of assembling Quasar Tempest Odin, my latest sofubi figure and a new avatar of Odin from the Galaxxorverse. These figures arrive from the factory as untrimmed vinyl parts, so each one is finished and assembled by hand in my studio. I trim the excess vinyl with a hot knife, heat the parts for assembly, pressure-fit the articulated pieces, glue the permanent connections, and finally give the finished figure its final inspection. Trim. Heat. Snap. Glue. This is the part of designer toy / art toy production that I love: taking a collection of raw vinyl parts and turning it into a finished character you can actually hold. Whew, man! I attended my first @kaiju_go, and it was a whirlwind! I got a little carried away. Here are my pick-ups! All of the individual artists are tagged. Aside from the toys, it was super cool getting a chance to chat with a few folks. Always awesome catching up with @wondergoblin, and it was super cool finally getting to meet @barbarian_rage. Also super cool chatting with@drewbabyyy ,although it was super brief because of the general craziness going on, haha. And I've always wanted a Scrotor by @neil_ewing . I was super happy that he brought one, and he was a super cool dude! Plus, it's always good running into my buddy @matt_houk and Eric from @horrorfreakdfw . This was my first time attending, and it definitely won't be my last.
