💚 Mary & Bockarie: Gemeinsam. Hunger beenden.

Also z.B.

Das ist die Basis für genauere Auswertungen. 💡

The last episode of The Future of Nature went out on PBS last night. 'Humans' explores how our species is affecting the natural world, but where people are integrating nature in their modern lives, it can benefit everyone.

Produced and Directed by Gavin Maxwell and edited by Tom Wright, the episode spans the metropolises of China to the favelas of Rio.

Here are some behind-the-scenes shots from the shoot in Sierra Leone, in January 2024, where cities are facing extreme heat and the impacts of deforestation.

Imagine a child walking miles just to reach a classroom, or staying home because the journey is too far. Majoe knew this couldn’t continue.

Thanks to their voice and leadership, hundreds of children in their village now have access to education closer to home.

This is the power of community-led change: solutions that come from the people, for the people. When you partner with us, you’re giving communities the space to lead and transform their futures.

Hear from the director of ‘New Boats’, Lansana Mansaray (Barmmy Boy) on how illegal fishing by countries from Far East is forcing fishermen in Sierra Leone to migrate.

Watch this eye-opening investigative documentary highlighting the impact of international industrialised fishing online at the link in our bio. 🔗

The village of Tombo has flourished in the Freetown Peninsula since pre-colonial times, its people harvesting from the sea, yet taking care of it so that it continues to feed future generations. But for decades now, this prosperity has been on the decline due to an influx of Asian trawlers, colloquially named chigie-chorga by the locals, overfishing on their shores with clandestine support from corrupt officials. The women of the village are also losing work as most of them earn a living processing the catch and selling at the market. Their husbands and sons are frequently forced to abandon fishing in Tombo and look for work in other countries. With outright corruption and neglect from the government, the fish population on their shores are dwindling and their livelihoods are beginning to disappear. Sullay and Woodie work to unite their unravelling community, but will they succeed against these powerful odds?
