I’m really grateful for everyone who has supported in bringing this vision to life 🌱
Many of whom said yes off the strength of friendship, trust, and shared belief in what could be possible.

Over the past few months, I had the opportunity to build and facilitate the Earthseed Leadership Lab.

Through this space, well over 100 young adults from Greensboro and across North Carolina came together to explore what it means to live, lead, and organize in this moment.

Together, we examined and discussed:

• The art of Community Building
• Faith & Spirituality
• Arts & Culture
• Ecology & Food Justice

Not just as topics, but as entry points into relationship, growth, and shared purpose.

Earthseed began as a project I developed through @polaris_leadership_network fellowship at @princetonseminary , inspired in part by time spent in Cuba, where I witnessed young people using art, spirituality, and community to sustain hope and possibility in difficult conditions.

As the founder and organizer of the program, I feel like this is something I discovered in relationship — with communities in Cuba, and especially with my friends and community members who brought their full selves into this space.

My organizing praxis is rooted in the belief that no one is disposable and friendship is one of the primary pathways to collective power and liberation — and this lab was an attempt to practice that in real time.

This has been:

• a community building lab
• a space for political and spiritual exploration
• and the beginning of a growing ecosystem of young people doing meaningful work

Grateful for everyone who has been part of this first chapter.

We’ll be closing out this phase of Earthseed tomorrow — if you’ve been part of the journey or are curious, come be with us as we bring this chapter to a close.

Excited to continue dreaming with my friends about what’s next 🌍✨

I have found Rhizobia in the garden!!! Nitrogen fixing plants are the anchor of the Three Sisters relationship of Corn, Beans & Squash are one example of a plant species relationship long used by indigenous populations globally. The three sisters in my garden this year will be Okra, Watermelon and Black-eyed peas.

E.P.I.C. – Educated People Influencing Culture 🌱

Social media is cool… but real change starts when we step outside and build with our community.

We’re bringing together healing, education, and real support for the next generation, because too many children are surviving when they deserve to thrive.

It takes a village.

If you have resources, connections, or you’re already doing the work, reach out. Let’s build together and pour back into our schools and communities.

You’re not alone in this.

Earlier this month, I shared my LOVE for Soil with the Natural Resources class at Knightdale High School, taught by Lawren Caldwell. Core components of this lecture included:

Soil Physical, Chemical & Biological Characteristics , Soil Erosion and Conservation Methods along with Soil careers and what it means to have LIVING SOIL.

Most importantly the students learned how to observe and draw inferences from their own experiences. There was a culture of excellence at Knightdale High School as the young people were ready to get more involved with the natural systems that govern our existence.

Last Saturday we launched the first session of the Earthseed Leadership Lab 🌱

Around 50 young adults from Greensboro and across North Carolina gathered to build community and wrestle with calling, lineage, and power together. Artists, organizers, growers, healers, entrepreneurs, students, and community builders all in one room asking the same question:

What does this moment require of us?

During the Lab we gathered in four breakout conversations that will continue at each session so participants can either go deeper in one track or explore another.

Breakout tracks included:

• The Art of Community Building facilitated by Dr. Serena Sebring
• Faith, Spirituality, and Calling facilitated by Rev. CJ Brinson
• Arts, Culture, and Narrative facilitated by Mariah M
• Ecology and Food Justice facilitated by Bevalyn

We are deeply grateful for these facilitators who helped ground the conversations and guide the space 🙏🏾

Earthseed exists to support young adults finding shared grounding in a time that often feels chaotic and unstable. It is a space to slow down, build real relationships, and strengthen our capacity to shape the future together ✊🏾

Across the next four months we will continue gathering to deepen our understanding of leadership, imagination, community organizing, and the ecosystems we are building across our state 🌍

Thank you to everyone who showed up, shared honestly, and helped make the first Lab so powerful 💫

Grateful to have been mentioned in the NC A&T College Of Agriculture Re:Search Newsletter with fellow scientists Narges Gorgin, Mariam Baysa and our Associate Professor Dr. Arnab Bhowmik, detailing current research endeavors along with insights on Fiber Hemp—an Ancient plant species cultivated by civilizations long before.

Current research explores a wide range of uses from sustainable construction to automotive manufacturing and fashion along with the most practical growing practices for small and mid-size farmers in the Southeast U.S. Link to the full article in my bio! 🌱
