Feedback can be one of the hardest, and most valuable, parts of leadership. This session dug into how to give clear, constructive feedback and how to receive it with openness and professionalism.

Moderator Keia Mastriani led speakers Leslie Ferrier, Elizabeth Meltz, Elizabeth DePalmer, and Christine Cikowski through a conversation full of practical tools for navigating tough conversations, strengthening teams and using feedback to elevate service and performance.

Held in the Singer/Vollrath Main Hall, this session, and so many meaningful conversations like it, wouldn’t have been possible without Singer/Vollrath’s generous sponsorship.

Learning your friend landed a dream job at @eastforkpottery but you don't have any more room!
Congrats Keia!

Long time listener, first time caller at @thisisfabchs where I spent three days in Charleston among hundreds of excellent womxn in F+B. It’a been awhile since I’ve joined a gathering like this one where I get to see old friends, connect with folks I’ve admired through internet portals, and meet new inspirations. @kateedwardsnyc, @eli_depalmer, and @kwiniland are my new heroes, btw.

I had the privilege of moderating panels on Impostor Syndrome (because I AM AN EXPERT!), How To Navigate Change (of which I am also a pro), and Giving + Receiving Feedback (cuz I like words and humans, ya know?). Every panelist brought their authenticity and wealth of experience to the conversation and I walked away smarter for it.

More than that I am reminded of what it takes to be in hospitality, whether running massive restaurant groups or a single small business, and it’s not just putting food and drink on the table. It’s skill and craft, care work and culture building, financial literacy and concretizing dreams into the ritual of ordinary days. It’s understanding people and caring for the whole of them. It’s fucking up and building systems to do better. It’s humility and self-interrogation. And it’s full of incredible, capable, unique womxn who give a shit. And wow, if that isn’t a hopeful thing to soak in and carry forward.

Thanks to @ranwein and the incredibly kind FAB team for creating this space and thanks to @chefttlivinandlovin for putting my name in the hat. 💜

I love women so damn much. And I especially love the smart, bonkers-talented, kind and fucking hilarious women who attend, run and speak at @thisisfabchs. I’ve never felt so supported and hyped up like this. It’s truly extraordinary. I learned so much, I made so many friends and I came away inspired and ready to conquer the world.
💖A huge shout out to @ranwein for creating this magic and to @sisterlylovephilly for my scholarship— it means so much to me!
💝If you’re a woman in the food & beverage industry, make FAB a priority. Invest in yourself here- you will come away supported, loved and absolutely filled to the brim.

That's right, another baker Substack launch 🙂

In addition to the Residency announcement by @carolinaground this morning I'm announcing the launch of a new Substack newsletter that will be a space for sharing more in depth of the work I'lI be doing at the mill as well as my continued baking journey with Nomad Bakehouse.

Writing, much like baking, is a craft like any other that reauires dedicated practice. This is new for me, but I've wanted to challenge myself to step foot into this space for some time as l've always enjoyed writing, just never the pressure of sharing; today I published my first piece (so so scary) and plan to continue sharing with you all.

I want to take a second and personally thank @keiaishungry of @milkglasspie, a skilled writer, baker and all around phenomenal human who inspired and pushed me to finally publish.

I hope you'll snag a free subscription 💛
The link to do so is in my link in bio.
