Had the privilege of giving the keynote address at the annual Western Australian School Library Association- Library Officer’s Day. It was a great opportunity to talk about the diversity and beauty of comics, how and why they connect to readers and the truly global, cultural and economic impact they have. The publishing landscape in Australia doesn’t reflect just how important comics are as part of the contemporary literary landscape, so it’s hard to get a real sense of it unless it’s laid out clearly. Comics provide huge opportunities for readers, educators and librarians to connect in profoundly engaging and meaningful ways. Hopefully I inspired some folks to reimagine the possibilities. @waslapln @perthcomicartsfestival @milktoothspace @statelibrarywa
