I’m so excited to share our 9 finalists for the inaugural NeueHouse Design Awards! (A passion project.)

These incredible designers get something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately: our work lives are beautifully messy now. We’re designing at kitchen tables, taking calls from closets, creating in corners we never imagined. And that’s okay—actually, it’s wonderful.

What moves me most about these projects is how they center rest and care as creative forces. Not as luxuries, but as necessities. I see spaces that invite you to breathe deeply, furniture that holds you gently, technology that supports rather than overwhelms.

These finalists understand that rest is where our best ideas are born. That care is the foundation of sustainable creativity. They’re designing for our whole selves: the parts that need to focus and the parts that need to simply be.

From sculptural seating that feels like a warm hug to lighting that honors our natural rhythms, these works remind us that good design doesn’t just serve productivity—it serves our humanity.

Life is a beautiful integration. And these designers are showing us the way.
Congratulations to all our finalists and honorees. I can’t wait for you to see what they’ve created. ✨ Gratitude to my amazing fellow jurors @davidalhadeff @glennlawson @orensten @joshrubin @studiopreveza @annedereaux @augustin.valery @adamhgoldstein @maryta_one @chelseanassib @jaimederringer @marthaldelabarra @mollywangggggg @bill_bouchey 💫

From sound design that soothes the nervous system to reimagined rituals of light, space, and breath, these nine projects demonstrate how design can support the full spectrum of human experience. Selected across three categories—Living, Wellbeing, and Environment—each entry reflects our guiding values: intentionality, innovation, and care. As we gather tonight for the awards celebration, we honor the designers who are shaping what it means to live and create with purpose. Our mixed-use project on Abbot Kinney in Venice includes a major remodel and historic preservation of an original early 1900’s bungalow. The bungalow is being relocated at the rear of the site, preserved, and raised to facilitated on-site parking. This special project is currently under construction with @workpointengineering, @buildgroupinc and @millanarchitect 📷: @lauradosshertz
