〰️ my ruby slippers heel click book tour stop was a cozy blast! No place like home! Bring your babies to work night! Thanks to the folks who made a cozy paperback tour closing possible in our beloved little neighborhood bookshop, @blueheronbooksny. @noor, for being the town hall style moderator of my dreams, @rotana for the pitch perfect closing prayer, @ollies for the hot wings and always excellent vibes, @ivan___cash for being our family 🎞️ camera man, for the incredible hearts who came out to crack open a conversation that gets me every time. Support your local bookshops 📕 (and pizza 🍕 joints, people!), they are bastions of hope and healing and happiness! ~

What does loving community feel like? I got a glimpse.

A few weeks ago, 67 of us gathered in upstate NY: we laughed, cried, shared, learned from the trees, a regenerative farm, and each other’s art.

Thank you to @fahertybrand @fahertyalex and of course the maestro genius weaver @kerrydocherty ❤️‍🔥

I learned to embody the wisdom of collective grief with @rachel.cargle and @revjacquilewis

I was profoundly moved by the artistry and wisdom of Native artists @jenniferbergp @byellowtail @crystalworl

I was taken to church by an open mic evening hosted by @iamjoelleon featuring @mobrowne @jivepoetic @drjenniferfreed @arielleestoria and more.

I am in awe of the beauty that happens when good people are brought together in radical welcome.

That goodness? It grows.🌱

Scenes from our 5th annual @fahertybrand retreat, celebrating beautiful minds, creatives, activists, leaders and founders on the front lines of change. I know the world is a lot right now. Surround yourself with people who inspire and imagine a more beautiful world. Laugh. Cry. Innovate. Paint. Hug trees. Share poetry. Connect. We got this. #bettertogether

Thanks to @troutbeck.ny for always being our home away from home and for tending to the fire.

Tragic experiences can be major turning points. What felt like pain and trauma became a positive shift, outweighing the hardship. #PersonalGrowth #Resilience #Transformation #MindsetShift #OvercomingAdversity #SpiritualJourney #EmotionalHealing #ReelsInspiration

We listened, we giggled, we snuggled, we shared. Felt good to be silly and sincere and serious all in one breath.

@fahertybrand wrapped us in their generous arms (and scarves) and I’ll spend the next year savoring these days where time and hearts stretched.

& @kerrydocherty @iamjoelleon @s_ariza, thank you for being my fairy godmothers 🪞

Can feeling love increase your cardiovascular capacity?

The literature doesn’t support this; but allowing yourself to feel, to be seen, to be fully known just might be the actual training.

To all my nervous system and vagus nerve nerds out there, please weigh in. Is there anything real here, or am I just telling myself a nice story?

@louisanicola_ , any thoughts to share on this topic?

A sneak peak 👀 of a very special film and music release coming soon.

It was such an honor to work on this project with @iamrotana while she was 9 months pregnant for her upcoming music release Bab Allah باب الله

We had the privilege of shooting two performances for her upcoming film and music release to a live audience at the historic @judsonchurchnyc in the heart of Greenwich Village with the portraits of Audre Lorde, bell hooks and other saintly ancestors watching over us.

Thank you to everyone in the audience who joined us and all our friends at Kindred who helped make this show and shoot possible.

We know her music and performance will rock you the same way it did for each us in the room that day!

🎭 people often ask me if it was difficult to answer the call of my ancestors and enter the world of traditional medicine practice and ‘away’ from acting & the arts- but for me, these two pathways are one in the same. At the highest level, the work of the actor is the work of the shaman – both traditions are preparing your body to be able to hold the intense charges of energy that run through you while performing either types of work. You need strength, the endurance, the consciousness, the discernment, the softness, and the ability to become the ‘hollow bone’, an open channel.

Which is why @millanasnow and I are bringing forth the circle. A place to start practising this anicent understanding of acting & weaving your medicine journey with your artistic pursuits. This class is for the actors who also love yoga, the mystic traditions, Jungian Psychology, the Artists Way, tantra & erotic ecology, ecstatic dance, dream work and the like.

Our first class Upstate New York is happening on Sunday August 23 in Stone ridge.
