I’m not that long caption kinda guy but in this case, it’s not even enough characters to describe my journey at TSP PYR ZERO.

A few weeks ago @aleixferrerr asked me if I want to run from one side of the Pyrenees to the other. Roughly 700 km with a crazy amount of elevation. I had around 400 km in my legs since May. So naturally I said yes. Right after signing up I got goosebumps and a proper panic. Way out of my comfort zone.

We trained a bit, ran up the castle in Girona a few times, and slowly I realized it will be tough but maybe I can do it. I had no idea how tough.

The setup: a core team of four, supported by one or two more people along the way. All of us in one small camper van, all the time together. Clear roles, everybody knew what to take care of. We supported each other when someone asked for it and every decision was made together. That’s honestly why it worked.

The strategy: trails almost only by day. Worked really well, even though we probably haven’t seen the full beauty of the Pyrenees. But we live close, so we’ll explore them more.

October 1st, 4 am, my first leg: 12 km. About a tenth of what I ended up running. As a team it was around 680 to 700 km and 24,000 to 25,000 m in 102 hours. My part: 160 km and 5,000 m.

Since I stopped competing, my relationship with running was complicated. An unhealthy situationship. I struggled with consistency and finding the feeling again. Out there I had to confront my past and feel that I can run again, without being afraid that my body breaks under the amount of running. Finishing with almost no problems shows me it can handle it. And I can feel the difference to cycling and appreciate the transformation you go through when you run for that long.

So many little details came full circle. Like the audio recordings we made during the trip, which helped us keep pushing in the end. An insane masterpiece of execution by the whole team.

Danke to everyone involved. Still processing, can’t believe what just happened. Definitely not my last time.

It all started with a simple yes. TSP PYR. Our Temple Running Girona story from Collioure to San Sebastián. More than 700 km and 38,000 m of elevation gain across the Pyrenees. @thespeedproject @templerunninggirona

In the last month I’ve ascended 33,459meter (109,900 ft) of elevation. I had the amazing company of many while climbing those meters:

- A women’s Everest with the girl gang on Els Angels in Girona
- @tailfincycling Detour’s in the hills of Wales with friends from all over the UK
- Showing the Cycling House guests the best hits of Girona
- Our crew of characters for the POC photo shoot climbing on the coast of Spain
- @chef_estebano in our sacred alone moments between all the craziness above

What’s wild to think that in a week I’ll be lining up for @taurusmountainrace where I’ll be climbing more elevation in one race than I did in an entire month with a whopping 36,346 m (119,250 ft) of climbing in 1,460 km (908 miles). This is a first edition race and no one really knows what to expect, other than it’s going to be pretty damn challenging.

I’ve juggled a lot of hats this last month and I’m really happy with how my form has continued to climb. The @orangesealacademy and @dennisvanwinden have kept me tested on the limit and rested on the off days. I’m looking forward to lining up with the deepest women’s field in ultra history.

Time to prep my @factorbikes Lando XC with new tires from @biketiresdirect fresh sealant from @orangesealed , and lots of @mnstry.nutrition nutrition in my pockets.

Turkey here @chef_estebano and I come!

TSP PYR - San Sebastián.

Last 150 km.

We decide to push through the night.

We time it perfectly to reach the top of the last climb at sunrise, before descending towards San Sebastián.

Our expedition comes to an end. 700 km and 38,000 m of climbing through the Pyrenees, as one team.

So many moments, images and memories that we’ll keep for ourselves, and that will remain with us forever.

No podium. No finish line. But we found what we were looking for.

Thank you, Pyrenees.
