This week’s G comes to us from @milspec_gwagon in Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand, and it’s a truck that clearly earns its keep. This 1993 290GD pickup is powered by an OM602 diesel that’s been treated to a turbocharger, giving the legendary Mercedes engine a little extra punch while maintaining its reputation for reliability. It’s riding on steel wheels and 35-inch tires, with a FOX steering stabilizer helping keep everything pointed in the right direction. Additional lighting has been added to the front, sides, and rear, making it ready for work no matter the time of day. A fresh soft top keeps the weather out, and being a New Zealand truck, it’s right-hand drive. The most unique feature, however, might be the helicopter lifting points. In remote areas, sometimes the quickest way to move a vehicle is by air, and this G is equipped accordingly. What we like most about this truck is that every modification serves a purpose. Nothing feels excessive. It’s a straightforward, capable working G-Wagon that’s been built to handle the demands of life in rural New Zealand. Thanks for sharing it with us. This is your G of the Week.
