Imagine what it takes to impress me. 🤩 Since joining the board of @mind.1.1 this year my respect for this org and its founder Sara Peral has only grown. I recently attended a celebration of FIVE YEARS of Mind-1-1, which is an organization dedicated to making mental health and wellness resources more accessible to Long Beach locals. It has evolved from the original sketches Sara made ten years ago (!!) of a directory and app of searchable resources to now a membership for therapists and other wellness providers, a local community, events, and ongoing groups. This year alone we did an art workshop, a fundraiser with @loveinthehotseatlongbeach, and walked in the Long Beach Pride parade. We’re partnering with CAMFT, the City of Long Beach, and more to grow our offerings. Membership gets you into our group chat, discounts and invites to members only events, opportunities to network, learn, play, and get creative. We’ve got some events planned for the next few months so if you are connected to mental health and wellness in any way and are in or near Long Beach, now is a great time to get a membership! My heart is so full 💚 I first learned about Mind-1-1 when it was simply an idea…a vision for making mental health resources more accessible, connected, and reflective of the communities we serve. To now have the privilege of serving as President of the Board and witnessing that vision materialize into a growing community is truly a blessing. Our event was another beautiful reminder of what is possible when people come together around a shared belief that mental health should be accessible, community-centered, and connected. To everyone who attended, donated (especially on my birthday 🎉), supported, shared our mission, or simply showed up for us, thank you! Your support allows us to keep building. To my fellow mental health professionals, wellness providers, organizations and students….please consider becoming apart of the Mind-1-1 Community. Ready for the hot seat! If years of community organizing don’t create the hottest takes you’re doing it wrong. Diane Burkholder of @thedbapproach and @queermunitylb is ready to tell the TRUTH about queer dating and relationships at our next Love in the Hot Seat! Bring your friends and celebrate Pride month at our live, talk-show-style event where we unpack your anonymous dating and relationship stories and questions. If you’ve been craving in person events where we can lovingly roast our own LGBTQ+ friends and family, have pizza and drinks, and share unpopular opinions that need to be more popular, make sure to come through. Our host and panelists will unpack your anonymous stories to find the heart, humor, and lessons (if there are any). All proceeds go to support local Long Beach mental health programming at @mind.1.1. Community 🫂🙏🤍 Last weekend I got to be apart of two beautiful community run Mental Health Awareness events! 🧠🤍 The first event, run by @mind.1.1 I got to facilitate a group workout and meditation. I got to connect with some amazing people 🙏 The second event, ran by @denmeditation I set up a table to offer my services. The conversations and connections I got to make were refreshing and inspiring 🫂🙌 I got to be immersed in community which is always uplifting and moments I am always grateful for. To me, life is about connecting and learning about others and seeing how we can all support each other. I love this life 🫶 #Community #Healing #Connection #Love #Gratitude

Our first community event as Hablemos Hoy Therapy was a reminder of why this work matters. We had the opportunity to connect, listen, and have meaningful conversations about mental health with members of our community. Every conversation helps normalize talking about mental health and reminds people that they don’t have to carry their struggles alone. A heartfelt thank you to @mind.1.1 for hosting and creating a space rooted in connection, healing, and community care. We felt welcomed with open arms and are grateful to have been part of such a meaningful event. And a special thank you to my colleague and her practice, @healingtrailstherapy, for letting me know about this event. I’m grateful to be part of a community of providers who support each other and show up for our communities in meaningful ways. It was inspiring to connect with so many organizations and community partners who are working to support the well-being of our communities. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, shared a conversation, or took a moment to learn more about mental health.
