The sketches behind ‘Recipes at St. James’ 💌 Drawn from an architectural element of the apartment, the motif serves as the central visual language, ornamenting the exterior of the box and tracing the tabs and edges of each recipe card.  The form of the cards evokes a dining room. Playfully illustrated dishes sit atop the card’s canvas, which resembles tablecloth. A sun and moon take turns revolving around symbolic tableware, demarcating six categories of recipes — breakfast, mid-day, all-day staples, dinner, drinks, and desserts. They provide a window into how we live through food.  Made from Sapele that carries the warmth of sharing a good meal, the box represents the apartment that houses the dining room — both a container and a stand for the cards it holds. Its slot, where each recipe card rests while one cooks, echoes the detailing of Nala, our beloved dining table❣️
