Why is it that pregnant women so often feel they have to put on a show?

To look happy.
To feel grateful.
To appear excited.

Even when inside… they may feel anxious, overwhelmed, conflicted, disconnected, or afraid.

Somewhere along the way, many women learned that only certain emotions feel “acceptable” in pregnancy.

That joy is welcomed.

But fear is hidden.

Excitement is celebrated.

But ambivalence is often silenced.

So many women tell me

“I felt guilty for not feeling happy all the time.”

“I didn’t want anyone to think I was ungrateful.”

“I think there's something was wrong with me.”

But mixed feelings in pregnancy are human.
They are common.
And they deserve space too.
So myself and Nicola @mindfulbirthing are going to give them all the space they need today as we chat openly.

You do not need to feel only joy to be a loving mother.

There is room for all of your experience here.
Two truths can exist together!

Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week reminds us that motherhood is not just all joy…
it can also be complex, emotional, and at times deeply ambivalent rollercoaster 🎢

We don’t talk enough about that part!

The part where pregnancy can feel both wanted and overwhelming.
The part where gratitude and fear sit side by side.
The part that can feel fearful, confusing… and even isolated.

🗣 This Thursday at 10am, I’ll be going LIVE with Nicola @mindfulbirthing_

We’ll be opening up an open and honest conversation about
the sometimes emotional ambivalence of pregnancy
a topic that is often hidden, dismissed, or seen as taboo.

This conversation is for you if:

• You’ve felt mixed emotions during pregnancy

• You’ve questioned how you “should” feel

• You’ve felt alone in your experience

🤍 You are not the only one and definitely not alone
🤍 Your feelings are valid
🤍 There is space for all of it

Set a reminder, join us live, or catch the replay
