••• since finishing the GB Ultras Slam in June (if we ignore the casual 100miler for fun in July 👀🫠) I’ve been trying to work on repair, recover, relax. Actually listening to my body and doing the training that I can, when I can…instead of all the bits I can’t, when I can’t. Because what happens is I ignore the can’t and just do it anyway or beat myself up over it and ultimately I just end up shattered. Turns out the recovery thing works.

Anyway, when given the chance to shut my eyes and lie down for a few hours in a stunner of a town hall, I jumped at the chance. Definitely counts as recovery.

I met @itsjustkev78 a little over a year ago now, funnily enough at @race_across_scotland - we were volunteering at the same check point and you know that way when you just know you like someone. He’s the type of guy who instantly you are at ease with, can laugh and joke but also, unfortunately for him, can also tell your hardest truths to as well… and you just know they’ll be safe.
You don’t meet many people like that in life really.

Fast forward a year, another even more significant Race Across Scotland 🖤 and then we are here. He’s played a major role in a lot of important life bits this year, and I was delighted for him that this event went so bloody well. It really was an excellent night.

I’ll be thinking of a lot of the things it brought to the surface for a while and will address these in due course, but really, this is just a post to mark my appreciation for someone I’d absolutely call a friend. And you should always shout for your friends.
Well done Kev, thank you, and everyone else? Give him a follow please @mindmastersscotland 🫶🏼

For the type of races I do, with long distance being my thing, this kind of work is vital.

It’s very easy to think ultra running is all about running… but it’s so far from the truth.

It’s a game of ping pong between your emotional and mental sides. The question is simply: how long can that game go before one of them has had enough?

So, this is one small thing I’m doing to train my mind.

I had such a good night at breathwork with Kev and genuinely feel like I’ve made progress from the previous times I’ve been.

I came out feeling calm, clear and completely present.

For someone whose brain feels like it’s running at 100mph most of the time, to have a moment where it drops to 1mph is a feeling like no other.

For that moment, I had clarity. I felt like I was flying.

I felt unstoppable.

And that’s exactly what I’m taking with me.

Because when Saturday 31st October comes around, it won’t just be my legs that have to keep going.

It’ll be my mind.

And that’s what I’m training too.

Saturday 31st October I will be…UNSTOPPABLE. 🧠⚡️🏃‍♂️

Would you be open to trying it?

What an incredible night, it's hard to know where to start but I was so lucky to attend this breathwork night with my friend & our competition winner @miss_kmcc and her friends too which made it even more special ✨️

I was there with friends and there were even people I knew in the room, that I didn't even realise were there until the end when everyone was taking the time to talk, hug and discuss their experience.

I think you'll find many people who were there last night will say, it's hard to explain. And I would agree.

This wasn't my first time doing breathwork at one of @mindmastersscotland sessions and I have loved every one and taken so much from each of them. But, this one was really quite something.

The way Kev facilitated it, the setting, the music, the people, the sense of peace and being in a safe space. I laughed, smiled & cried (a lot) The most amazing experience ❤️

You only know, if you know.

I've had messages already about last night & please if anyone else is interested in Mind Master's Breathwork or have questions, please feel free to ask me but follow @mindmastersscotland and Kev will have many more answers x

Last night was EPIC on so many levels....

First I got to lie down and breathe. To go to that other place that is silent and colourful and the unexpected invitation to even scream it all out at one point.

Secondly to do that in a powerful collective. The bubble of energy that's created when so many people come together with the same healthy, healing intention.

And finally being guided by someone I instantly trusted when I met him many years ago during our NLP training. Kev Brown leads from the heart, authentically and with an energy that makes you feel safe. He facilitated an incredible evening in the beautiful Troon Town Hall and he is someone I would happily allow to guide me and someone I'd highly recommend. Check out @mindmastersscotland because this might have been one of his first events like this but I can absolutely guarantee it won't be his last.

Breathwork is more than you can imagine and can bring you more than you expect but it always brings you exactly what you need and last night I needed to be in that space 🌌 and out of my own head 🩷🙏✨

Remember it all starts with you and you are the most important person in your world 🌎 Take care of you.

Lots of Love
Fiona🩷✨
