Which Grocery Store Currently Makes The Best Fried Chicken In Chicago???

Another A1 bakery in Chicago 🥐

@mindysbakery lives up to the hype and then some.

What we ordered:
🥯 Everything bagel with chive cream cheese
🍓 Raspberry crumble bar
🍪 Chocolate chip cookie
🍌 Malted Banana Grand au Lait

The coffee and raspberry crumble bar were the standouts for me. The banana flavor tasted natural and wasn’t overly sweet, while the raspberry filling was rich, slightly tart, and balanced perfectly with the sweeter crumble.

Definitely worth a stop next time you’re in Chicago!

Landed 8 hours ago.
First thing I unpacked was the notebook.

(Somebody way smarter than me said that sometimes the best way to figure out what’s next is to go look at what’s lasted.)

RESEARCH TRIP : PARIS (Hitlist)

4 days with old friends, walking to blisters, eating everything & doing some very serious Camp research.

ST. AMBROISE FLEA
Started with the important stuff: digging through other people’s old things.

THE GREEN BOOK STALLS OF THE SEINE
& always & forever-

@e_dehillerin
Chef’s supply house dating to the 1800s, jammed with copper pots & all the mysterious kitchen implements. A living, breathing institution of craft.

@deyrolle.officiel
A taxidermy + natural history rabbit hole. Same spot for 200 years. Antique specimen cases for the Fieldhouse. Pretty good day.

@le_repaire_de_cartouche
Former hideout of an 18th-century outlaw. Cartouche stashed his loot here, getaway tunnel included. Original murals, game, pâté & enough history to make lunch feel like research-which it was-obviously.

@dupainetdesidees
Mindy’s favorite bakery, so we trekked there before sunrise. Est. 1875 & still feeling like itself. (Get the almond croissant.)

@leparizot
The tiniest sandwich shop with the longest line. 3 ingredients: Ham, butter, baguette. Didnt know charcoal bread was a thing?

@shakespeareandcoparis
Always a time travel. Writers have made the pilgrimage here forever. (The sleeping quarters tucked into the book stacks- I die.)

@chef.robert_robertetlouise
A Bourdain favorite for old-fashioned rustic cooking & huge slabs of beef grilled over the hearth.

@philippe_le_libraire
Tiny, chaotic art & comics bookstore. Like someone’s personal collection turned into a shop.

Just got home with a broken suitcase latch & a head full of ideas.
Lucky to get to do it with friends @mindysegal & @christinaglickman2 — so freaking happy to crash a friend-of-a-friend’s flat straight out of Elle.
Turns out perspective was the best thing I brought home.

What an unforgettable evening under the lights at Millennium Park! It was indeed a night to remember!

Last night’s Chicago Gourmet Global Stage Dinner at the Pritzker Pavilion was a powerful reminder of why Chicago remains a world-class culinary epicenter. Beyond the skyline, our city’s true flavor comes from the incredible culinary diversity pulsing through all 77 unique neighborhood communities—and last night brought that global spirit right onto the big stage.

A massive thank you to our host, Catherine De Orio, and to incredible chefs Lorena Garcia, Kwame Onwuachi, Tony Priolo, Doug Psaltis, and Mindy Segal for taking us on an extraordinary culinary journey with a truly unforgettable menu.

Huge gratitude as well to Sam Toia and Mary Kay Bonoma of the Illinois Restaurant Association for their tireless dedication to keeping Chicago’s dining scene on the world map year after year.

Brindille is the embodiment of elegance — perfectly polished silverware, ironed tablecloths, food that is both delicious and deeply considered. There is no more fitting stage for what we’re about to do.

Having this group together, for this cause — that’s something rare.

These chefs are among those whose blood, sweat, and tears built Chicago into one of the world’s greatest food cities. Their kitchens, their standards, their relentless commitment to craft — that’s why this city exists as it does today. And beyond the food, they established something even more remarkable: a culture where giving back isn’t optional. It’s a standard. It’s what Chicago chefs do.

They are the OGs. And their legacies live in every chef who calls this city home.

Their support for The Evolved Network — for the young people we walk alongside every day — is a reflection of exactly that standard. The same care and commitment they’ve poured into this city’s food culture, they are now pouring into our community. And we are deeply grateful.

Thank you, Chefs. For all you’ve done, continue to do, and for what your presence at this table means to TEN and the young people we serve.

This is a dinner you do not want to miss. 🖤
