What does one of my retreat for creators actually look like?

A private chef cooking every meal.
Incredible sponsor gear and experiences.
Two top-notch, design-forward vacation rentals to shoot.
Intimate workshops, conversations and education sessions.
Time to explore the local landscape.
Unique photo + content opportunities throughout the weekend.
A whole lot of fun.

And maybe most importantly, a group of strangers leaving as friends, collaborators and some of each other’s biggest business cheerleaders.

Four years ago, I hosted my first creator retreat.

Not because I thought it would make money.
Not because I was trying to grow another part of my business.

I did it because I love people. I love building community. And I love being around creative people.

I’d spent years carving out my own path creating content in the hospitality and travel space before it was popular, and I wanted to create the kind of gathering I wished had existed when I was figuring it all out. Somewhere people could learn openly, shoot incredible work, share what was actually working in their businesses and build genuine relationships without competition.

At the time, I couldn’t find anything else like it.

This month marked my seventh retreat that I’ve hosted, and somehow they just keep getting better.

So much learning. So many incredible conversations. An absurd amount of beautiful content created. New friendships, collaborations and connections that will last a lifetime.

The properties and experiences are incredible.

But the community has always been the whole point.

It’s hard to sum up what my creator retreats mean to me.

After hosting seven of them across the country, I’ve built some incredible lifelong friendships, watched side-hustling creators turn their businesses into full-time careers, made some unforgettable memories, and laughed a LOT along the way.

This retreat was impactful for me in many ways. It reminded me of how special it is to do what I do. And how deeply meaningful in-person community building can be.

We had a down-to-earth crew of incredibly talented creators came together curious, excited to learn, and ready to create. We spent four days learning from each other, building real friendships, creating some pretty incredible imagery, eating ridiculously good food, and exploring Minnesota lake country together.

We came together as strangers and left as a genuinely tight-knit group of friends.

And that’s really what these retreats have always been about for me. Yes, we talk business, photography, social media, and all the things that help build a career. We create a ton. We stay somewhere beautiful. We eat really well.

But more than anything, it’s about bringing good people together who understand this unique, creative career, and giving them a few days to learn, create, laugh, be inspired and leave with a community behind them.

Already dreaming about where we go next 🤎

2.5 hours from the Cities and suddenly you’re in full Northwoods reset mode 🌲✨ @northernlakespropertiesllc

We were invited to stay at Tiny Timber in Cushing, MN and it was the cozy escape I didn’t know I needed. 450 sqft of perfectly designed cabin vibes, full kitchen for cabin meals, games, memory foam beds, DOG FRIENDLY 🐶 and the quietest nature views. But let’s talk about the real MVP… that outdoor sauna. I used it every chance I got. Sauna. Cool off. Repeat. Absolute Minnesota luxury.

Ended the trip with a bonfire and s’mores under the stars and honestly… that’s what Minnesota adventures are all about 🔥🌌

If you’re looking for your next cabin getaway near Brainerd, Fish Trap Lake, or just need a reset weekend, add Tiny Timber to your list.
