Wicked Words: Beginner Spooky Lettering Workshop by @mintscriptco

Step into the spooky side of creativity in Wicked Words: Beginner Spooky Lettering Workshop! This beginner-friendly class will introduce students to the foundations of brush lettering in a fun and approachable way, with a Halloween-inspired twist. Participants will learn basic lettering techniques including strokes, letter formation, word composition, and simple embellishments while exploring spooky color palettes, seasonal doodles, and festive details that bring their lettering to life.

Throughout the workshop, students will practice their new skills through guided exercises and creative prompts designed to build confidence — no prior experience needed. By the end of class, each attendee will create their own small spooky-themed quote artwork using the techniques learned in class, leaving with both new creative skills and a finished piece to take home and display for the season.

Here’s a blurb of Emily Solis:

“I’m a hand lettering artist, illustrator, and educator based in Houston who loves helping people explore creativity in a fun and approachable way. Over the years, I’ve taught workshops focused on hand lettering, watercolor journaling, creative planning, and beginner-friendly art techniques for creative communities, stationery events, and craft spaces.

My workshops are designed to feel encouraging, low-pressure, and inspiring — whether someone is picking up a brush pen for the first time or rediscovering creativity through journaling and art. I’ve had the opportunity to teach workshops at Little Craft Place, and present at planner and stationery events including the Chicago Planner Conference and Little Craft Fest.”

Get ready to experience Emily’s stunning art and support local creativity. We can’t wait to see you there and celebrate together!

🎟️ Workshop registration opens on August 29 at 12 PM CT on our website, www.littlecraftplace.com. We’ll share pricing, schedules, and details ahead of time so you can plan before registration goes live.

Things have finally slowed down on our end, well, a little. We’re still surrounded by boxes, catching up on orders, digging for items that somehow vanished during the chaos, and working through emails, messages, feedback, bills, and all the things. But after seeing everyone’s beautiful posts from last weekend, today I finally get to share mine.

Thank you, truly, to every single person who came together to make this event happen. I didn’t take many photos (still better than last year!), but I’m so grateful Ian and I got one, and that Paula, Kami, and I squeezed in a few too. We even managed a group shot with our vendors and volunteers, something we put on our list last year, and it felt so good to finally make it happen. The only thing missing was a photo with our girls, and that’s already at the top of my list for next year.

To everyone who spent the weekend with us: we see you, and we appreciate your encouragement, love, and positivity more than you know. This community, our community - is the reason we do what we do. You’re the heart of it all.

A huge shoutout to our incredible sponsors: @archerandolive @hubmanchubgirl.store @rongrong_devoe_illustration @coracreacrafts @laurenphelpsdesigns @oncemorewithlove @thousandskies @thelittleredhouse @laylekoncar @esterbrook_official - your support means more than I can ever put into words. And to our poster designer @rinstudio.us, vendors and teachers: your talent is unreal. Watching everyone admire your beautiful work filled my heart in a way I’ll never forget.

To our volunteers: Kami, Jessica, Dane, Dani, Michelle, Sally, Ginger, Carol, Karma, Jaime, Kellye, Jean, Kim, Melissa, Lola, Misa, and Anna (who even drove my girls to the hotel after school!) just to name a few, you are truly the kindest humans on earth. Your generosity, patience, and heart carried us through every moment of this event. We absolutely could not have done it without you.
