Today, I had the pleasure of meeting with Douglas Grimes, President of #MIR Corporation, and Vice President Annie Lucas in #Seattle. For years, @mircorporation has been at the forefront of crafting exceptional journeys across #CentralAsia, opening doors for #American travelers to experience one of the world’s most captivating regions.

Our conversation focused on unlocking the immense potential of #Uzbekistan, a land where ancient Silk Road cities, breathtaking architecture, and vibrant traditions come together to tell a story unlike anywhere else on Earth. From the majestic domes of Samarkand to the timeless streets of Bukhara and Khiva, Uzbekistan offers a rare blend of history, authenticity, and wonder.

We explored new ideas to bring this extraordinary heritage closer to travelers in the United States - highlighting not only Uzbekistan, but the broader Central Asian region as an emerging destination of global significance. With its rich culture, warm hospitality, and remarkable safety, the region stands out as one of the world’s most underrated tourism treasures - still largely undiscovered, yet ready to inspire millions.

The people in Uzbekistan were among the most lovely I have ever encountered. I obviously am a foreigner in their land based on my appearance alone, but they were very welcoming, kind and curious. They immediately made me feel at home and as if I belonged, regardless of the cultural differences. I am always grateful I am able to travel to different places in the world, but the people of Uzbekistan have raised my level of gratitude to new heights.

A glimpse of my 2 week journey through Uzbekistan 1 year ago. Traveling through Uzbekistan is a sensory journey: the aroma of spices drifting through bazaars, the texture of hand-woven silk between your fingers, the geometry of mosaics repeating endlessly across domes. It’s a place where history isn’t locked behind museum glass—it’s worn, cooked, woven, and lived every day.
What a multi-layered, sensory journey it was! It felt like I was gone for a month. Every single day was its own incredible adventure.

Why Uzbekistan, you ask?

• The people are some of the friendliest I’ve encountered anywhere in the world.
• It’s incredibly safe.
• You can explore beautifully preserved ancient cities along the Silk Road.
• Immerse yourself in rich history and vibrant culture.
