Our latest shoot with @zebedeetalent shot by the talented and very lovely @carrjack_

Dotty came with her most elegant self and this was our favourite shot. The styling is by @livrenniestyling and is just GORGEOUS!

ID: Dotty is sitting in her wheelchair in front of a background of beautiful soft pastel fabrics draped over each other. She’s wearing an apple green checked dress, pink socks and a pink beret. She has pale white skin, blonde hair cut into a Bob and she has one left stretched out straight. She’s looking directly into the camera with both hands crossed on her lap. : Dotty is sitting in her wheelchair in front of a background of beautiful soft pastel fabrics draped over each other. When you sit up from getting your hair washed and your incredibly slick and straight side burn meets your jawline exactly.

The mutton chop was accidental but the attitude is all her.

I’m trying to think who she reminds me of - for some reason I’m getting Aaron Taylor Johnson in Nowhere Boy and Cher dressed as Elvis from Walking in Memphis. Both are inaccurate but it’s all I’ve got 🤣🤷🏼

ID: a black & white side profile of Dot with wet hair scraped back off her face. There is a perfectly straight chunk of her short blonde bobbed hair stuck to her face in front of her ear which resembles the longest side burn you’ve ever seen and meets her angled jawline exactly. Her skin is white and her head, neck and shoulders can be seen above the side of the bathtub she’s sat in. a black & white side profile of Dot with wet hair scraped back off her face. When I describe my daughter as Disabled and Iconic, this is exactly why.

Looking every bit as legendary as her World Book Day inspo Sir @eltonjohn she is THE one & I couldn’t be prouder or more in love with this long limbed stunner.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about some of the WILD (even if well intentioned) things people say to me as Dot’s mum. Not sure why, maybe because we’ve hit a decade together & I’m reflecting, but my point is I wanted to share a few of these as the perceptions we have & the language we use in interactions with other people are so important in making us all feel welcome & safe.

1. Do you mind me asking what’s wrong with her?
A: Nothing Brenda, what’s wrong with YOU? She’s a living, happy legend. A healthy, sassy 10 year old girl that eats like a wrestler & enjoys the soundtrack to Hamilton. 🎶

2: (After hearing or seeing that she’s Disabled) I’m so sorry…
A: Why? We’re not. This is exactly who she is & who she was meant to be. Just like I’ve got different (& bigger) tits than you Karen, Doris has more riz & prospects as a model than snotty little Jasper 😬

3. If you had a magic wand…
A: Let me stop you there. Just bye babe 👋🏻
(This question I won’t even tolerate & says way more about the person & their feelings about their own child than it does about mine.)

This is the tip of the iceberg, however I’m not looking for pity.

Quite the opposite, I’m looking for you to watch this reel again, look at my mini Elton & question your perceptions of disability. And to realise that they are entirely YOURS & not ours.

We are all individual & as far as we are concerned, we’ll be crocodile rocking until we drop & don’t need your negative vibes Sharon. Grab a feather boa and join in or make like a tree. We’ll be grand either way 🪩🥳🎸🎉

Spread this flippant but honest message and let’s see if we can get Elton to give us a wave. 👋🏻

We made it to Spain!!! And so did the wheelchair!

Anxiety levels diminishing, daily pool posing on the rise. ☀️🐟✌🏻

ID: Dotty, a white 9 year old girl wearing a swimsuit, floppy sun hat and heart shaped glasses, is sat by the side of a pool with one leg dipped in the water. She has a pink inflatable rubber ring around her waist and she’s looking into the pool.
