Our latest shoot with @zebedeetalent shot by the talented and very lovely @carrjack_

Dotty came with her most elegant self and this was our favourite shot. The styling is by @livrenniestyling and is just GORGEOUS!

ID: Dotty is sitting in her wheelchair in front of a background of beautiful soft pastel fabrics draped over each other. She’s wearing an apple green checked dress, pink socks and a pink beret. She has pale white skin, blonde hair cut into a Bob and she has one left stretched out straight. She’s looking directly into the camera with both hands crossed on her lap. : Dotty is sitting in her wheelchair in front of a background of beautiful soft pastel fabrics draped over each other. Dotty, wearing one of our favourite outfits from the shoot last summer with @anotherworld_costumes ☀️

ID: a white 9 year old girl with blonde hair is wearing a blue dress, white apron & a red hooded cape. She’s sitting in her wheelchair in front of an old caravan in a field, smiling.

Posted @withregram • @anotherworld_costumes Red Hooded Cape ✨🐺

This fabulous fully reversible red & black hooded cape has a gorgeous deep set hood and is designed to evoke the timeless, whimsical and enchanted feel.

Beautiful bright red and white polka dot ribbon decorate the cape’s red edges and the ric rac braid is sewn into the seam so it shows on both sides.

From adventures with wolves in the woods, gingerbread houses and poisoned apples to name but a few, there are so many fantastic fairytale and story book characters to choose from – and even more for children to conjure up themselves! ✨🐺🏡🍎

It’s also a perfect instant costume for World Book Day, Hallowe’en, birthday parties, school plays, festivals, fairytales including Little Red Riding Hood, Hansel & Gretel, Snow White and more.

Fully safety tested, carries UKCA/CE mark.

Always feel free to message me with any questions!

Easter holiday get together @wallacemuseum to see the @alanmeasles exhibition. It was a brilliant day out full of colour, laughter, good food and sunshine.

It was also the first time @iamisaacharvey met @miss_dotty_mae and the vibes were immaculate.

Enjoy the way I say Perrerieee instead of Perry for absolutely no reason.

Highly recommend. ✌🏻🔥

When I describe my daughter as Disabled and Iconic, this is exactly why.

Looking every bit as legendary as her World Book Day inspo Sir @eltonjohn she is THE one & I couldn’t be prouder or more in love with this long limbed stunner.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about some of the WILD (even if well intentioned) things people say to me as Dot’s mum. Not sure why, maybe because we’ve hit a decade together & I’m reflecting, but my point is I wanted to share a few of these as the perceptions we have & the language we use in interactions with other people are so important in making us all feel welcome & safe.

1. Do you mind me asking what’s wrong with her?
A: Nothing Brenda, what’s wrong with YOU? She’s a living, happy legend. A healthy, sassy 10 year old girl that eats like a wrestler & enjoys the soundtrack to Hamilton. 🎶

2: (After hearing or seeing that she’s Disabled) I’m so sorry…
A: Why? We’re not. This is exactly who she is & who she was meant to be. Just like I’ve got different (& bigger) tits than you Karen, Doris has more riz & prospects as a model than snotty little Jasper 😬

3. If you had a magic wand…
A: Let me stop you there. Just bye babe 👋🏻
(This question I won’t even tolerate & says way more about the person & their feelings about their own child than it does about mine.)

This is the tip of the iceberg, however I’m not looking for pity.

Quite the opposite, I’m looking for you to watch this reel again, look at my mini Elton & question your perceptions of disability. And to realise that they are entirely YOURS & not ours.

We are all individual & as far as we are concerned, we’ll be crocodile rocking until we drop & don’t need your negative vibes Sharon. Grab a feather boa and join in or make like a tree. We’ll be grand either way 🪩🥳🎸🎉

Spread this flippant but honest message and let’s see if we can get Elton to give us a wave. 👋🏻

*Names have been changed and responses embellished for dramatic purposes.

☀️

Soaking up the sun last week, wearing some of our favourite pieces from the new @littlegreenradicals adaptive & non adaptive ranges.

We have these powder blue striped, extra long adaptive joggers in mustard too ✌🏻

All of the clothing is so soft, comfortable and well made, we have been BIG fans for years but even more so now they’ve launched adaptive wear 🤩

AD: Towards the end of last year, I was put in touch with the brilliant people @littlegreenradicals to take part in some research involving a new adaptive range ahead of their launch.

Fast forward & Doris is now featured in their comms showing off the range & I’ve been asked to be one of the brand’s Adaptive Ambassadors.

This is such a mega moment as we’ve always been huge fans of @littlegreenradicals and are so excited and thrilled that they’ve made the important, inclusive move to make clothes that Dotty and other Disabled kids can wear.

Currently there is little to no choice out there when it comes to adaptive threads and @littlegreenradicals have managed to create a range that’s inclusive, well made and doesn’t compromise on style.

Dot serving ‘John McEnroe in the Wild’ is testament to that.

💚 Designed for Life. New Adaptive Collection.

At Little Green Radicals, we've always considered ourselves to be an inclusive company, with everybody welcome to be part of the Little Green Radicals Family. Our photoshoots regularly included children with disabilities taking part. But it wasn't until we received an email from Keely @K.j.panda, desperate to find adaptive and organic clothing for her daughter Niamh that didn't cost the earth, that we realised we weren't as inclusive as we had first thought.

After speaking with Keely, and meeting the wonderful Niamh, our design team Bonnie and Josie got to work and created a collection that is bright, beautiful, functional, and of course adaptive. We collaborated with Purple Tuesday @purpletuesnov, the number one organisation for improving the customer experience for disabled people and their families, who have been an amazing help, and we are hoping in the future to broaden the styles we offer, and make our website more accessible too with their support.
