Can we retire the phrase “he was robbed”? 😂

I’ll start by saying it: I’m a Samson Dauda fan. I love his symmetry, flow, muscle shape and overall aesthetics, and I thought he brought the conditioning, hardness and graininess needed to win. If I were picking the physique I personally prefer, Samson is my guy.

But “robbed”? I don’t think that word makes sense.

To be robbed, something has to belong to you first.

When these athletes walk onto the Olympia stage, nobody owns the Sandow yet. They’re standing there competing for it. The judges compare the physiques in front of them, apply the criteria, make their decisions, and someone wins.

We can disagree with that decision. We can prefer a different physique. We can argue symmetry versus freakiness, aesthetics versus density, conditioning versus structure — honestly, that’s half the fun of bodybuilding.

But saying an athlete was “robbed” turns a judging result we disagree with into something being taken away from them that was never theirs yet.

I still would have loved to see Samson crowned Mr. Olympia. That’s my preference.

Nick brought a completely different look — ridiculous conditioning, hardness, density and a back that demanded attention — and the judges rewarded it.

That doesn’t mean Samson failed. It doesn’t mean Nick stole anything.

It means bodybuilding is subjective, and sometimes the physique we love most isn’t the physique the judging panel rewards most that day.

So maybe instead of “he was robbed,” we say:

“That wasn’t my pick.”

This almost didn’t happen. 🥹

Labor Day weekend, 2011.

A few weeks earlier, I had missed earning my IFBB Pro Card at Canadian Nationals — something I wanted more than I can even explain.

I thought I’d have to wait another year.

Then someone reminded me North Americans was only a few weeks away.

And I thought… fuck it. I’m going.

So I went to Cleveland, took one more shot — and became an IFBB Pro. ❤️

15 years later, this memory still hits me.

Moral of the story?

Stop fucking waiting.

If you have the opportunity to go after something you really want, GO.

Take the shot. You never know which one will change your life.

➕NOVICE CLASS✔️

Take this opportunity to Register for the NOVICE DIVISION for more stage time, experience & Pro Judges’ feedback.

@npcworldwideofficial
“Novice” means a competitor who, in the current contest year, has not won an Overall in a Novice, Masters or Open contest, or who has not won in an Open class with three or more competitors.

💫BENEFITS
Competitors who aren’t qualified for the Natural Canada IFBB Pro/Am will have the opportunity to gain more experience and receive IFBB PRO Judges Feedback for improvement !
Not to mention the chance to be on worldwide PPV 🤩

And for those who are already qualified to compete in the Natural Canada Pro Qualifier in any of the Open or Masters classes, you too can also enter the Novice Class for extra stage time, more experience & fun, if you are classified as “Novice” according to the NPC Worldwide definition.

Capitalize on this additional opportunity to show everyone what you’ve worked so hard to achieve.

And in doing so you inspire others to do the same.

*The Novice category provides no qualifications.

See you Friday July 31st at check-ins 👍

I’m currently packing for my next adventure, which will take me to the Ottawa Natural Classic.
Before I can do that, a little SuperShow wrap up is in order. I find it’s like planning a wedding, months and months and months of work, we all have our respective roles. Then the big day comes or in this case days, you see so many friends and acquaintances. Everyone is excited beyond measure, but it goes by so quickly and you wonder who you spoke to (you wanted to chat with everyone) thank them for coming, capture a selfie or two….. but here we are, with a hand full of photos and I’m left feeling like I wanted to do so much more.

In closing

THIS NEW TPSS LEAD BY JOHN AIELLO WILL SECURE ITSELF AS THE GLOBAL EVENT TO ATTEND AND COMPETITORS, SPONSORS, VOLUNTEERS, OFFICIALS AND FANS WILL CONGREGATE TO 🇨🇦 TO THE 2027 TORONTO PRO SUPERSHOW AND BE WELCOMED WITH OPEN ARMS …. That’s how we roll ❤️

CPA/NPC/IFBB Pro League Women’s Seminar last Thursday, June 11th, kicking off the Toronto Pro Supershow weekend! 💪✨

As a competitor, walking into that room full of driven women was exactly what I needed.

Hearing directly from Olympia Women’s Head Judge Sandy Williamson and top pros on posing, stage presence, competition mindset, and dialing in your physique was pure gold.

The energy, the Q&A, and the sisterhood in the room left me feeling inspired, focused, and ready to bring the🔥

Grateful for these opportunities to learn from the best in the game. The knowledge I gained is already shaping how I prep moving forward!

Huge thanks to the organizers and everyone who made it happen. If you’re an athlete (or aspiring one), don’t sleep on events like this — they’re game-changers.
