Mile 2,655😁. I FREAKING DID IT!!!! It’s hard to put into words what this experience has meant to me, and the incomparable feeling of crossing this finish line.

137 days, 3 states, 450,000 feet of elevation. So many tears, so many sore muscles, but also so many more incredible, unforgettable moments.

This trail, and the people I was lucky enough to experience it with this summer, are magic. I already miss it🥲

My first post since coming back from Germany. Sorry it took so long to say I came home. I promise I'll get around to making a good bye post to the best and most transformative time of my life at some point. As well as some more specific of the amazing trips I had.

Till then my next adventure takes me to Denver for awhile, we'll see how that goes :)

I've officially walked from Mexico to Canada! 2,655 miles over 159 days. Nights spent camping in below freezing temps in the snowy Sierra. Days spent walking through the blazing sun and heat in the desert. Hiking through wildfires and hail storms. Swimming in alpine lakes. To the beauty and the pain! To hiking. To hitching. To relaxing and taking in the view. To eating good food. To laughing. To tent cities. To walking 30 miles a day. To cowboy camping. To the afternoon lunch breaks. To doing dumb shit. To figuring it out. To doing it with friends.

Makes the walking better. Makes missing home easier. Makes missing loved ones more manageable. Makes the hard days go by faster.

Today marks two months from the date I finished my thru hike of the Pacific Crest Trail. It was such a surreal feeling arriving at the northern terminus, it’s hard to articulate. Just under 4.5 months of hiking up and over many mountain ranges, meeting many new friends, and taking many photos! It’s taken a while to go through all of them, and figure out what the best method of archiving and sharing them is. I settled on creating an entire new account just for the photos I shot on the PCT - @snapshot.pct25.archive - where I will be posting them chronologically beginning with the southern terminus, starting today. To all the people I met on this journey, thanks! To the South Lake Tahoe Goodwill where I found the crazy shorts I hiked the rest of the way in- thanks! To all the people who helped me along the way, double thanks! I love you all :)

one snowfall into the season and we’re already reminiscing about summer :,) felt necessary to memorialize all the time spent outside w/ my buddies before the next 5 months of short and chilly days ☃️

A trip to another planet. Fog that envolops my morning routine. Green tunnels of moss, lichen, and pine trees. Jagged peaks that interrupt the rolling hills that have become our terrain. Oregon is a place where somehow fields of lava rock are followed by meadows of wildflowers.

Save for the nightly and morning gatherings at camp with 100 Grand and Stag, I spend most time hiking alone. At camp, we summarize our days, tell a highlight and maybe share some bullshit about a certain section of the day. Making plans for the day is simply having the first person out of camp suggest a mile marker to meet at for camp that night.

Our pace is fast. Washington by end of next week.

The desert has returned with a forceful vengeance. The temp has soared over 90 the past few days and leaves me wishing for the cold morning starts from the sierras. Spiky bushes that have battered and bruised my shins made a reappeance from 1000 miles ago.

This has not damaged my average mileage, in fact the hunger to push harder has only increased... Or maybe it's just regular hunger, as my weight has drastically gone down 30+ lbs since starting. I need more food.

Either way, the hills of Northern California still bestow breathtaking landscapes, camping in a firewatch tower, trekking through the second largest burn scar in California history, and entering the volcano territory passing through Lassen national park. Another titan, Mt. Shasta lies ahead, but so do more fires and closures.

Surpassing the halfway point was pretty cool :D

PCT: Day 59

Summiting Mount Whitney - The highest peak in the contiguous 48 states and not technically on the PCT but a popular side trip.
Having got into the tent a little before 10pm the previous day we realistically had only had 2 hours of sleep each before attempting this.
The alarm went off at 1am and we dressed in most of our layers and packed the rest as it was going to be a cold day.
We also packed our ice axes and microspikes as we knew that we’d have some snow crossing, traversing steep terrain.
Our first challenge was neither the cold or the terrain but the death of Amy’s head-torch before the climb had even properly begun and we were still navigating across snow fields in the pitch dark. The very real thought of having to turn back was in my mind when Amy got her phone out and stuffed it vertically in her bumbag and turned on its torch for light instead and off we went.
Then the switchbacks begun, with the trail alternating between clear and hidden beneath snow. We were glad to have our ice axes on these to arrest a slide if we lost our footings and feel - luckily this never happened.
The sun was already up, if but a little, when we were nearing the top. This was enough for the hikers who were waiting at the summit for it as they had already begun their exodus back down.
They passed us by whilst my hands actually turned to ice, it turns out my lightweight thin gloves were not cut out for these temperatures.
We summited and had the peak almost entirely to ourselves, with views down across the Owens Valley to our east and peaks upon peaks seemingly filling the rest of the directions.
Celebratory pictures with the summit sign and then it was time to head back down.
We got back to the campsite, took down our tent and lay down in the shade to try and get some needed rest.
I wish that was the end of our day as I was exhausted but we packed up and hiked along the trail for as far as we could.
Another early alarm (4am) was set for the next day.
