Part 1 of our much needed, just us, family summer adventure vacation week along the CA coast ❤️ this is a trip I have been thinking about for some time and it was honestly better than I even expected.

Solvang ➡️ Monterey ➡️ Big Sur ➡️ Santa Cruz ➡️ San Luis Obispo

We went to 4 different beaches, hiked to a waterfall among the Redwoods, did the Aquarium (which has long been on my list), boardwalk, saw amazing views, relaxed, shopped, ate, played, swam, boogie boarded, and watched the kids truly enjoy each others company.

We celebrated our Sammy turning TEN with an epic weekend of fun by hosting a DUDE Perfect 🐼 themed party for our sports loving boy. It was so wonderful to see how special he felt, how much fun he had, and how happy he was.
The next day was little league day at Dodger Stadium where our team surprised us by decorating their/our cars and caravaning there together. Dodgers won and kids got to run the bases. It was the bestttt ⚾️🏀⛳️🏟️🏈🏅

Halloween 2025 💀🎃🏴‍☠️🦖⛏️

Matthew and I attended a friends incredibly fun 40th “funeral to my youth” birthday party at the exclusive Magic Castle in Hollywood last weekend (even running into my longest friend in life and grabbing an illegal photo to document the surprise). . .

Edee and her bestie were Pirates, Sammy an inflatable dinosaur, and Charlie is Steve from Minecraft.

This was our first, in 14 years, of not doing a family costume or getting a photo of the 5 of us so that felt a bit weird and a little bittersweet 🥲 but it was bound to happen sooner or later; we had fun hosting and celebrating with family and friends tonight.

Two whole weeks have passed since our amazing tournament day but we have still been busy behind the scenes wrapping up all the loose ends- packing away merch and supplies, writing down notes for the next event, announcing the winners of the guitar and pedal, and making sure everyone has received their raffle and silent auction wins …

We had some donations coming in still and are waiting for company matches to post before we announce our final amounts raised but things are looking gooooood and we believe that we are on track to exceed last years amount raised of over $38,000! 🎉

We know everyone is eagerly anticipating the final numbers as are we!

The @charlieschampstournament division champs have been crowned but there are still TWO big chances to win and help @webuildhearts find a cure for Congenital Heart Disease for kids like Charlie ❤️

Tickets are still available for your chance to win either this stunning Randy Rhoads Jackson guitar or the 2nd edition Dunlop distortion+ RR Concorde effect pedal (not yet available for sale).

Guitar tickets are $10 each
Pedal tickets are $5 each

ALL funds go directly to the nonprofit 501(c)(3) Heartworks.

No limit for either on how many tickets purchased but winner is restricted to the continental US.

Raffle will close the night of Friday August 29th at 11:59 pm.

Tournament day was INCREDIBLE!

We upped the game this year and it definitley payed off… far exceeding our expectarions - I don’t even have the words to say how grateful we are for such an amazing day, for ALL the volunteers, players, friends, family, vendors, and umpires love, help, and support we had leading up to and especially on this day. I could cry just thinking about it all, Matthew did!

It was so fun, so hot, so inspiring, so moving, so rewarding, and so exhausting but soooooo worth it!! This is but a snippet of highlights and I look forward to weeding through and sharing tons more, including tallying up totals raised for Congenital Heart Disease research @webuildhearts #charlieschamps

Hi 👋🏻 my name is Alisa and I am the face behind this account… mama to Charlie, Sammy and Edee and wife to Matthew.

I am a born and raised Burbank local and really love our community.

I have been a NICU nurse at CHLA for over 20 years, most of which was before Charlie was born. I can clearly see my life as before diagnosis day and after diagnosis day and the huge impact it has made not only Matthew and my life but on any and everyone who is in our lives.
Once I had a sick child of my own I realized how incredibly important the work we do as health care workers is and what a huge impact we can make for the families and patients we care for.

I truly love helping others and believe that is the purpose for why we are here, to help others through their struggles.
And I genuinely believe that most people are GOOD and want to help too, which has been so evident in planning our tournament.

Shown here is this years @webuildhearts tournament bags which all players and volunteers will receive, we are soooo grateful for all the help and support and super excited for Saturday.

Why are we doing this?!
1- awareness 2- hope 3- change

One of the hardest things about Charlie’s disease is that there is NO CURE. No matter how many surgeries, procedures, interventions, tests, pokes, or meds he takes the most disheartening aspect of all is watching him endure it all but knowing that it’s never done and behind us. No matter what we do he still has half a heart. Everything he has been through is merely a way to help him survive as long and as well as possible.

30 + years ago the treatment for HLHS did not yet exist, it was a universally fatal diagnosis. But it took those willing to take a chance to make a difference for kids like Charlie. Had it never been for the risks taken all those years ago, Charlie wouldn’t be here today.

Even in the last 7 years since he was born there have been many advances in the care and treatment of this disease. @webuildhearts has helped bring many of those advances to light… and our hope is that in time the advances that are yet to come will eventually help Charlie and kids like him even more than we are able to do so today.

Join us as we strive to bring more awareness to Congenital Heart Disease and hope for a better future for our kids ❤️
