J is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to the shoulders, spine, and bridging work.

More of his material is found in #projectspine (link in bio) as well as within MOVE Upper Calisthenics (link in bio).

If you are one of those people who’s shoulders & spine are TIGHT this is for you! The backbend is one of the best flexibility movements you can be doing for your spine & shoulder mobility but it is very easy to do this movement wrong.

If you go into your backbends with your arms bent this means most of the loading is through the lower back versus the shoulders going deeper into flexion & thoracic spine aiding the lower back to going into extension.

The two drills demonstrated in the video are fantastic ways to work on bridging with a focus on the shoulders & thoracic spine. If you are unable to fully press up from the feet elevated bridge try the wall bridge variation. As said in the video make sure to have your head look forward and pull hips towards the wall as you lock out the arms and you will feel the loading through the shoulders & thoracic spine versus lower back.

Weights, Machines, and Therabands are INNEFECTIVE.

If you care about optimal gains and reducing your risk of injury, be sure to perform your lifts with your dog. Link to the full article is in my bio.

Online student @magnetikmover getting strong and flexible at the same time! That’s the beauty of the system of training we put our students through. Working towards certain standards of flexibility and strength is how we get our students to have a foundation strong enough to feel comfortable performing any activity they desire. 😂 MY FACES 😂

The blisters on my hands and the sunburn on my face isn’t the only proof that I work hard for what I want. So many people ask me if I am competing in anything: CrossFit? No. Lifting? No. Races? No.

What I am competing for, and what I AM training for is to be better than who I was yesterday. I found that when I am in competition and competing against others, I only push myself as hard as I need to, to beat the guy next to me. When I’m competing against myself, we’ll be on the look out because I’m cut throat. And I look just like the faces in these videos.
