To be chef-led is about more than what arrives on the plate. At The Hive, it starts with the heart of the kitchen.

Yesterday, Executive Chef Micah Klasky was honored with the Capi Peck Acting Out Against Hunger Award for his outstanding efforts fighting food insecurity in Arkansas: a recognition that speaks to the values at the foundation of his work, both in and beyond the kitchen.

Micah believes in letting the ingredients lead, often saying, “we let the fields decide what’s on the table.” That same care extends beyond the farmers and producers who shape our menu to the people and communities we have the privilege of feeding. From bringing award-winning High South dining to Bentonville, to providing meals through 2nd Street Pantry and partnering with Rethink, care and integrity are central to how we think about food.

In 2026, Micah became the first rider since Chef Cycle returned to raise $100,000 in a single campaign year. Of his years fundraising for No Kid Hungry, he calls it “the best thing I’ve ever done in my life.”

That is what chef-led means to us: culinary excellence rooted in place, a deep respect for the people behind every ingredient, and a belief that feeding people well means caring for them in every sense.

Congratulations, Chef Micah. We’re proud to follow your lead!

Last month, after 13 years, I said goodbye to The Hive at 21c.
It’s hard to put into words what this place has meant to me. Anyone who’s worked in this industry knows the challenges are endless, and that your team makes all the difference. I was incredibly fortunate to learn from so many talented chefs. You all became my family and helped shape the cook and person I am today.
It’s not easy to leave a place where you’ve spent a third of your life, but I’m so excited and grateful for this next chapter!
Cheers to new beginnings and for everything this kitchen gave me. 🥂❤️
