Congratulations to former Orioles skipper Buck Showalter, who was announced as the new manager for the @mets over the weekend.
⚾️
Before his coaching days, Buck was a pretty good player in the Yankees farm system hitting .294 (.369 OBP) over seven seasons.
⚾️
From his days with the AA West Haven Yankees in the late 70’s here is a signed game used bat of his.

Congratulations to Ron Washington & the @braves for capturing their first World Series title since ‘95.
⚾️
“Wash” played in 26 games for the Orioles in 1987 & is most well known for what happened on 09/14 during a 18-3 drubbing in Toronto wherein mgr. Cal Ripken Sr. inserted Washington at SS in the bottom of the 8th inning, thus ending Cal Jr.’s record consecutive inning streak at 8264 (which started 06/05/82).
⚾️
Here is the jersey Ron Washington wore that night north of the border as well as a full game ticket.

Sammy Sosa’s 498 home run bat. This is the bat that was cut open live on ESPN, in June 2003, after his corked bat incident.

Since starting this account nearly two years ago, it’s amazing (to me anyways) that today’s post will be my 400th and I wanted to share an item from my collection that ties in with that number.
.
Back on September 2, 1999 at Camden Yards, Cal Ripken Jr. became only the 29th player in MLB history to hit his 400th career HR (a 3 run shot) off Devil Rays RHP Rolando Arrojo.
.
A few days later the Orioles commemorated that historic event with a pre game ceremony which included CRJ being presented with a special jersey bearing a #400 on it.
.
Here is that jersey along with a photo of Cal accepting it from manager Ray Miller (📷 AP Photo Nick Wass).

Cal Ripken Jr. became just the 2nd player in MLB history to play in 2,000 consecutive games back on August 1, 1994 in Minneapolis.
.
Here is a signed game used ball from that historic indoor contest which was acquired from one of the umpires who worked the game (and who had CRJ sign it).
