Thank you to everyone who stopped by and supported my art at the @gen_con Art Show last week! I had an amazing time, sold out of all my books on the second day, and had some wonderful conversations with new and returning collectors :) Huge thank you to @tinnellovitt, Joe, and the rest of the @genconartshow staff, and to all of my artist friends who helped me throughout the show, watching my table, lending me supplies, helping me with tear down, and hanging out afterwards 💗 I feel so lucky to be a part of this community!

Big shoutout to @kidsinkbooks for providing books for the show and for organizing my event at the @indylibrary. It was so lovely meeting everyone there and having the support of such an incredible indie bookstore📚✨ If you’re local, go check out their beautiful store and support their newly-launched literacy non-profit!

Book events give me life! I had an amazing time at @litapalooza in Naperville, IL last week 📚 Shoutout to the lovely booksellers at @andersonsbookshop for being such incredible hosts, and to all of the teachers, librarians, students, and parents who attended our panels, workshops, and signings. Listening to @writeinbk @erinentrada and @schrefer’s keynotes made me want to get back to work on my next story immediately! And I absolutely loved getting to chat and hang out with my fellow authors and illustrators and helping the students come up with their own stories💗

Huge thanks also to the @torrancepubliclibrary for hosting my Storytelling Workshop last weekend and to every one of you who attended! I loved hearing your story ideas too and hope you keep working on them 💗

I had such an incredible time sharing AFIA IN THE LAND OF WONDERS in North Carolina earlier this month—huge thank you to the @lewiscarrollsocietyamerica for the warm welcome and @bookmarksnc for hosting my signing and panel alongside Lisa Yee Swope & Melissa Jenkins…and equally big thanks to the wonderful Lupe Penn and @mbalia1 for inviting me to 5 school visits between Winston-Salem and Charlotte! It was an honor to share my first book with all of these amazing students—they had such fantastic drawings and questions and I’m even more fired up about encouraging them to make their own stories!💗

(Thank you Peter E. Hanff, @cre8tiff_browngirl, and @herspanic for the photos!)

Late @lightboxexpo appreciation post—huge thank you to @stuartngbooks, to everyone who bought a book or print at my signing, and to everyone who attended our @paintedincolor panel and Glaze panel 💗 It was so lovely seeing old friends, making new ones, and finally getting to share my finished book with you all!

Things have been tough on a personal level lately, but this show got me through it and continues to inspire me to keep going on the path of making my own stories 💗 Thank you @digitalbobert and @jimdemonakos for bringing this incredible community of artists together year after year ✨

I had an unbelievable time at the @barnesandnoble Children’s Book Awards in NYC last week! Being nominated alongside such incredible authors and illustrators is beyond anything I could’ve dreamed of when I began working on this story 12 years ago. A huge thank you to all of the B&N booksellers across the country for reading and choosing my debut illustrated novel as a finalist 💗 And even bigger congrats to the winners—my friend @devinellekurtz, the lovely @sangumandanna, and @paperfury!! ✨

The best part of the night for me was getting to celebrate with my sister Barbra, my agent Regina, the @scholastic team, my fellow nominees and booksellers in person :)

Shoutout to @yamilaviana for the best fernet I’ve ever had—the perfect way to celebrate 💗🇦🇷

Hi, I just wanted to pop in and say a big thank you for all of the overwhelming support and enthusiasm for my in-progress Alice book💗 I’m doing everything I can to finish writing and illustrating it as soon as possible for you!

In the meantime, please check out the @paintedincolor podcast, which I cohost with the amazing @labillustration, @ericwilkersonart, and @artbywu. We aim to uplift and amplify the voices of underrepresented artists, and release episodes every other week: https://m.youtube.com/c/PaintedInColor 🎨
