At the beginning of 2025 my friend told me, “This will be the best year ever “. I replied, “Gosh I sure hope it’s better than my last year.” And she said, “No, I mean that your 2025 will be the best year in the history of the world”.

She was right. The tree that fell on my house. The loss of my nephew. When my car exploded in Iowa. The time my black water tank spewed raw sewage and shorted out my kitchen. The further disintegration of human rights. It was all part of the world’s greatest year on record.

What made it the best year?… I think it is that I’ve stopped caring about fairness and I focus on just doing the next right thing. It’s that my supposed plot armor was revealed to be the thickness of wet newspaper. It was the best year ever in the history of the world, simply because I believed that was, and I looked for evidence to prove that this is what greatness feels like: raw, overwhelming, heartbreaking, precarious, fragile, and unforgettable. It was a year fully felt, and that’s what a great life feels like to me.

this post has waited long enough, ive been too busy holding memories tight after a heartfelt residency at @chq.art

it was a true adventure where i met the most amazing people, i now hold much sweetness for them all. cheers to the reunion i hope to soon have.

six weeks seems long the first two weeks but by the time we were half way through i knew everything was going to move faster than i was ready for. i made a large ceramic walnut, lots of cups and more than a few paintings.

@erikabhess @rmw_studio @feoface you guys are amazing to work with, thank you for your presence.

we had impactful visiting faculty. a thriving tomato plant of knowledge was gifted by each of them, i’m carrying it now through my days in and out of the studio, do ya know?

hugs and happy tears to you peoples <3

I spent my summer at the @chq.art residency program. I made friends who are exceptionally gifted artists and WONDERFUL people. I was inspired to push my ideas and body to a space I hadn’t dared to go before. My thanks go to eveerryoneee.

A great sum up is a quote from Rumi: “…The grapeskin of ego breaks and a pouring begins. Fermentation is one of the oldest symbols for human transformation. When grapes combine their juice and are closed up together for a time in a dark place, the results are spectacular…”

Special thank you @andreaaferrigno for recommending this program and thank you @erikabhess for facilitating such an awesome community.

Love and peace

A second Chautauqua Summer is in the books. What can I say about this Summer? Uh, nothing without crying?

Thank you to the other residents who are truly some of the greatest people I've ever met, and to @erikabhess for paving this way for us and creating a space where we can be so open and free to create ✨️

I could say so much more but I'll stop myself 💖💥❤️ I miss you all so much already! I can't wait to see what's next!
