Marsday Mantra: I will meet my weaknesses with hunger, desire and determination so that they may become my strengths. 💣🧙🏾‍♀️🖤

—

My path to where I am now has been a challenging one. In 2020, after I heard a pop while sprinting on the treadmill, I was told I had osteoarthritis in both of my knees. Fast forward through succumbing to depression grieving a life of dancing vigourously onstage and training my body, I sat myself down and manifested chronic pain in not only my knees, but my hips and calves. I was a mess, but I also refused to accept getting surgery. But instead of DOING something, I sat, read books and watched videos of the people DOING the work, and felt the fear of pain and actual pain, take over my body. I couldn’t sit, stand or lay down without pain. Fuck it, if I didn’t DO something, THIS would be my life. That’s around the time when I decided to focus my strength practice around kettlebells. I invested in kettlebells and coaches. Fast forward through days, months and years of hard work and discipline to not only get me close to pain free, but NOW a CERTIFIED KETTLEBELL COACH myself! But still there are things that I want to be able to do with my body — like a pistol squat — that I covet in others, letting where I am right now (still with limitations) deter me from stepping towards that goal. Well, not anymore, I’m working my weaknesses into strengths and won’t give up until I get there.

What is a weakness that you’d like to alchemize into a strength?
