Back from ACG and jumped right in to the weekend call but had to gram these wonderful memories from Nashville! What a blast 💥

🏆 ACG Service Award for Colorectal Cancer Outreach, Prevention and Year-Round Excellence 4 years in a row but extra special this time for leading a multilingual colorectal cancer prevention and awareness campaign alongside an incredible team of Evidence-Based GI (EBGI) ambassadors, using our collective voices to make health education more accessible to the communities we serve.
🏅 Presidential Poster Award for our industry-funded, investigator initiated study "PillSense as a Triage Tool for Safe Discharge in Hospitalized Patients with Positive Hemoccult and/or Unexplained Anemia"
🥇Outstanding research award on our study "The role of IL-23 in pouchitis for patients with Ileal pouch-anal anastomosis"
🤝 Attending my first ACG Educational Affairs Committee meeting, an exciting opportunity to contribute to the educational mission of an organization that has played such an important role in my own professional development.

But perhaps the most rewarding part of this meeting was, as always, the people ✨ The friends who stand by us through the highs and lows, the mentors who continue to guide and inspire us, and the colleagues who make this journey so meaningful. It was especially fulfilling to cheer on my mentees as they presented research we had worked on together and received well-deserved recognition. Watching them grow in confidence, find their voices, and take pride in their accomplishments was such a joy 🎉🎊

Left #ACG2026 with a grateful heart, renewed purpose, and a beginning of an even more exciting chapter.

ACG ‘26 was trulyyy something special 🥹❤️ A lot of learning, a lot of meaningful conversations, and even more reasons to appreciate being part of this field. But my favorite part will alwayssss be reconnecting with my people 🫶🏽 GI has the BEST community, and there’s really no back and forth about it 🤭❤️

Congratulations Dr. Rina Sanghavi @rsanghavi_27 for receiving the @gohealio X @scrubs.n.heels Women of the Year Disruptive Innovator Award 🏆
This award goes to a woman who is making a positive impact in the field of GI through intentional leadership, innovative work and scientific advancements. With positive disruption, she is inspiring and empowering the next leaders in medicine.

Dr Sanghavi is a Professor of Pediatrics, Pediatric gastroenterologist @utswpediatricgastroenterology and Director of the Neurogastroenterology and GI motility at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She has established and directed programs that care for the complex childhood digestive disorders. Her compassionate care and innovative research earned her the Clinical Excellence Award at UTSW.
In addition, she is continuously working to better physician engagement and wellbeing. She was recently appointed as co-chair of the Epic National Physician Wellbeing Steering Board where she will help improve the EMR’s efficiency and hopefully reduce clinician burnout.

She holds multiple leadership positions locally and nationally, including President of the Medical Dental Staff, Chair of the Faculty Compensation Committee and Chair of the Pediatric Business strategy group at UTSW. Nationally, she is the chair of the Women in Medicine Committee and Secretary Treasurer for @naspghan

Dr Sanghavi has published extensively on gender equity in medicine and was awarded the Scrubs and Heels Break the Glass Ceiling Award for her transformative work on pay equity and transparency at UTSW and is the Co-Chair of the 2027 Scrubs & Heels Leadership Summit. She has been a phenomenal Friendtor and Mentor to many Women in GI, and we know she will continue to positively impact the lives of her patients, their families and the physicians who cares for them, and to elevate the field of pediatric GI and medicine !

Dr Nayantara Coelho-Prabhu is Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. She is an internationally recognized expert in Inflammatory Bowel Disease, luminal therapeutic endoscopy and Artificial Intelligence applications in Gastroenterology. Her research focus has been in the epidemiology of dysplasia development in patients with IBD. She also leads the development of AI applications in endoscopy at Mayo Clinic Rochester. Dr. Coelho-Prabhu’s publication record includes over 100 peer reviewed publications and 4 book chapters.

Recognition of her service work, research and teaching accomplishments have earned Dr. Coelho-Prabhu Fellow status in the ASGE, the AGA and the ACG. She also serves as the elected ACG Governor for the state of Minnesota. She is an active member of the teaching faculty in the Rochester Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship. She directly supervises and teaches GI fellows in the Inflammatory Bowel Disease clinic and in screening and therapeutic endoscopy, including the GI Bleed team. She co-founded and has served as the course director for the “Innovations in GI” course, established in 2023. She co-leads the Mayo Enterprise Video Repository and endoscopy AI group at Mayo Clinic Rochester.

There are moments when you look around a room and realize the future is already here.

This past weekend was one of those moments.

From women gastroenterologists stepping into their leadership potential to more than 300 GI physicians investing in the #ACGInstitute Leadership YOU, I was surrounded by people who care deeply about serving patients, advancing GI leadership careers, and improving our profession.

Six years ago, Leadership YOU and the American College of Gastroenterology Institute Center for Leadership, Ethics, and Equity was merely an idea. This weekend, I saw that idea come alive through conversations, connections, mentorship, and a shared commitment to lead. Our second version of Leadership YOU in 2026 was bigger, better, and more impactful than ever.

I am deeply grateful to my course directors, the ACG Institute team, and the ACG Education staff whose dedication made these experiences possible.

More than anything, I left feeling hopeful.

Hopeful because the next generation of physician leaders is thoughtful, talented, generous, and ready to make an impact that will ripple through our field and in the care we provide to patients. We have already seen the influence of training GI doctors with leadership skills through our alumni. They are doing amazing and meaningful things in their communities and nationally.

The future of our specialty is brighter because of them.
