Latter Day Saint - Kobe, Japan

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

5 years ago and after much thought Brooke decided to climb this majestic mountain, so she set a plan and went to work, not fully aware of what she was getting into. At times she would sigh about upcoming deadlines, lament “interesting” group mates for projects or vent frustrations around rubrics and such. But most of the time she would come and find me to tell me how awesome it was to unlock stories of real lives lived through the methods of forensic genealogy. Or how the growth mindset can be so amazingly powerful. Brooke’s personal life as a mother, wife, grandma, church leader, social media chair and everything else did not slow down…she did not want to miss any of that, so she found a way to fit school into her existing life. We drove to Idaho so Brooke could get the full experience of graduation. As Brooke crossed the stage with grace and jubilation, the audience absolutely erupted, by far the loudest of the day! (she went last, on purpose 🤩). I am so inspired by Brooke. She is my partner in life I love her so much. Could not be more proud of this incredible woman. Congrats Brooke Neves Severe, you are amazing!!!!❤️👊🎉

My baby is ONE!

I think I love birthdays so much, because it’s a tradition founded by humans. I hate to use the word cute, but it is. It’s so cute that throughout time and history, humans have widely celebrated each other’s day of birth.

And while most people roll their eyes at a party for a one year old, I personally can’t think of a more deserving recipient. Come on! Your very FIRST trip around the sun! One whole year in this big beautiful world.

It was so fun to go all out celebrating my sweet, summertime, sunshine boy. We are all so so so happy he is here 💘

Reflecting on my greatest souvenir from rock bottom. Finally understanding and accepting that I am loved. The evidence is too overwhelming to deny. I am loved! I never needed saving. But I am forever changed by the people who sat there on the floor with me until I felt strong enough to get back up and save myself.

This one is for you.

What Softball Means to Me

Softball isn’t just something I play—it’s a huge part of who I am. The people I’ve met through it? Yeah, they’re my forever people whether they like it or not.

This game has definitely kept me humble, and slightly stressed—but it made me better.
My favorite part is the chaos—dugout energy, making fear plays, and celebrating everything like we just won it all.

After graduation, I’m heading to UVU and figuring out my next move—maybe nursing, or becoming a flight attendant like my aunt. Either way, I’ll make it happen. I don’t know exactly where life’s taking me, but I know I’m ready for it—and I’m going to give it everything I’ve got.

Softball has been such a big part part of my life for so long, and I wouldn’t have it any other way! This sport means the world to me and has taught me so much, I’m forever grateful for the lessons I’ve learned through the hard times and the amazing memories I’ve made through the best. I’ve been blessed with the most amazing coaches and teammates throughout the years, some have even become lifelong friends. I truly don’t know where I would be without softball, and honestly, I don’t want to imagine it. I will cherish the memories and relationships I’ve made through softball for the rest of my life, and I’m beyond grateful for the love, support, and time my coaches, family, and teammates have invested in me over the years. #rollvs #fikes4L

It’s difficult to fully articulate how much softball truly means to me. The game itself has taught me many lessons: how to be tough and rub some dirt on it. It’s taught me to be disciplined and to continue working hard day in and day out, no matter how tired I am. It’s taught me to be aggressive and go after what I want. It’s taught me to use my voice. Softball has taught me how to be a hard worker. It has shown me that I am strong and capable. It’s taught me that my body is a gift and to take care of it.

But the biggest takeaway after all of these years is the relationships you walk away with after all the practices and games. It’s the roster of girls who become your best friends and cheer you on throughout life. It’s the coaches you look up to and admire wholeheartedly. It’s the girls on the opposing team you begin to befriend after playing them too many times. It’s the parents of your teammates who lend you a water bottle through the dugout fence when you forget yours at home. The umpires you crack jokes with in between your at-bats. Even the gas station clerk asking about your game after noticing your uniform. The relationships I have made over these last 10 years are treasures I keep close to my heart.

Leaving this sport behind makes me utterly distraught, but I get to bring home relationships and experiences that will last a lifetime. I love the game of softball—I wouldn’t be the woman I am today without it.
