Bookkeeper. Controller. CFO. Most founders know they need "someone for the finances" and default to whichever title sounds most senior. Here's what each one actually does.

A bookkeeper records what happened: transactions, payments, payroll, the foundation everything else is built on.

A CFO plans what happens next: forecasting, resource allocation, the strategy behind your biggest decisions. In between sits the controller, and it's the role most growing businesses skip entirely.

Controllers make your numbers reliable: month-end close, reconciliations, compliance, reporting a bank or board can actually trust.

Skip that layer, and here's what happens instead: your bookkeeper's numbers go straight to you with no review in between. That's the gap where errors slip through and variances go unexplained, right up until someone asks you a question you can't confidently answer.

You don't need all three at once. You need to know which layer is actually missing.

Not sure where your business stands? DM "STRUCTURE" and let's figure out what you actually need right now.

Most business owners have heard "outsourced accounting" and pictured someone doing what their current bookkeeper already does, just cheaper. That's not what CAS actually is.

Client Advisory Services goes beyond traditional accounting.

Traditional is a single accountant handling transactions and reports after the fact: you send the data, they send back a report, weeks after the numbers actually happened.

CAS flips that. You get a full team covering different parts of your financial backend, real-time reporting, and access to your numbers whenever you need them, not on whatever schedule your accountant works on.

This isn't a fit for every business. If you're running a Fortune 500 company, you probably need an in-house department. But if you're somewhere between under $1M and $15M in revenue, scaling from a handful of employees toward 25 or more, CAS is built exactly for that stretch: the gap between "too big for basic bookkeeping" and "not ready to build a full internal finance team."

It's not a smaller version of what a CFO does. It's the team in between, sized to where you actually are right now.

Curious if this fits your business? DM "INTEGRATE" and let's find out.

Switching accountants shouldn't mean you're stuck translating your entire financial history to someone new.

I have clients who've been in business for years and know exactly what a transition requires. And I have clients who come to me and say, "I'm ready to switch, can you make this easier?" The answer is yes, because we've already built the switch kit: the letters to notify your current accountant, the notices for contractors, even an introductory letter to us so we can handle the onboarding and offboarding transition without it landing on your plate.

That's actually the thing to look for in any firm you're considering. Not just "can they do the work," but "have they already thought through how hard it shouldn't be to start." If a firm doesn't have a process for the switch itself, you're the one absorbing that friction, on top of everything else you're already managing.

We built this so you don't have to be the one holding it all together during the handoff.

Thinking about switching? DM "CLARITY" and we'll walk you through exactly what that transition looks like.

Not every business needs the full package. Some just need the piece that's actually broken.

That's the idea behind our à la carte services: mix and match what your business needs right now, instead of paying for a bundle built for someone else's problems. Two of the most requested pieces on their own:

AP/AR management, because your cash flow is the lifeblood of your business, and how well your bills and invoices are tracked is the lifeblood of that cash flow. We streamline it, keep it accurate, and give you 24/7 visibility, so late fees and shuffled paperwork stop being a monthly headache.

And accounting systems setup, whether you're starting a business or fixing one that's been running on a system that never quite fit. It sounds basic, but getting this wrong (or skipping it) is one of the biggest reasons businesses don't survive their first three years.

You don't need to overhaul everything to fix the part that's actually costing you. DM "INTEGRATE" and let's figure out which piece makes sense for where you are right now.

Your company is your baby. I get that more than most people probably do.

I've built this firm for over 20 years, and I know exactly what it feels like to be the one everything runs through: every decision, every fire, every "just check with me first." So when I say we've got your back, I don't mean it as a slogan. I mean we understand what it actually costs to carry a business the way you're carrying yours.

We want to help you focus on the things you actually want to focus on, the vision, the next chapter, the work only you can do, instead of being the bottleneck everything has to pass through.

If you've gotten to the point where you're ready to make a move, let's have a conversation. That's genuinely all it takes. We'll see if we're a good fit for you, and if we're not, we'll tell you that too. But if we are, let's help you make that next move so you can finally start scaling the way you've wanted to, without you being the ceiling on it.

DM "CLARITY" and let's talk.

I'm honored to be featured in @boldjourneymag last month, talking about resilience, leadership, and the messy middle of going from founder to CEO.

I failed algebra in high school and took accounting only because I needed the credit to graduate. I fell in love with it, became a CPA, and years later started MOD Ventures from my living room. My goal was to bring in $500 a month for my family. That business grew into a seven-figure company, and I became our sole breadwinner.

Somewhere along the way I learned the numbers are only part of the story. A business can have demand, revenue, and opportunity and still be limited by a founder who can't let go. This past year, my biggest growth has been learning to lead without being in every detail. I had to stop confusing being needed with being valuable.

A few things I shared in the interview:

🤔 Setbacks are not always stop signs. Sometimes they are the beginning of a different story.

🤔 Financial clarity lets you make decisions from facts instead of fear.

🤔 The skills that start a business are not the same ones that scale it.

🤔 Real kindness includes clear expectations and honest conversations.

🤔 A woman's ambition does not have an expiration date.

🤔 The question I keep asking myself: "What does my business need from me now?"

🧡 Thank you to Bold Journey for the conversation. Read the full feature online.

Every business accepts payments. Almost none of them know what it's actually costing them.

In this episode of Entrepreneurship Uncovered, Bailey Cooper of GOMP Group pulled back the curtain on merchant services, and one line stuck with me: don't sign a time-based contract with a termination fee. Most founders don't even know that's a red flag until they're locked into one.

Here's the part that reframed it for me: the ability to get paid isn't a back-office detail. It's a growth lever. When it's easy for clients to pay you, in whatever way works for them, you can go sell right now, without friction slowing the close.

I keep coming back to the same belief in every corner of this business: you need a team around you. Payments, financials, operations, none of it should be something you're figuring out alone or signing blind. Everything can be complex. Our job is to make it simple.

Full conversation with Bailey is live now, link in bio. What's one part of running your business you didn't realize you needed the right people for, until it cost you?

Could you check these five numbers in the next 60 seconds?

If you had to think, dig through a report, or call someone to answer any of those, that's not a personal failing. It's a sign the business has outgrown the systems tracking it. A lot of founders running seven figures still can't answer these fast, not because they're not paying attention, but because nobody built the dashboard that makes the answer instant.

Here's why it matters more than it sounds: the founders who catch problems early aren't smarter. They just have visibility the rest of us are missing. A margin that's quietly eroding, an AR cycle that's slowly stretching out, payroll creeping up a percent at a time; none of that looks dramatic in the moment. It only becomes obvious once it's already a problem.

You shouldn't need a meeting to know where your business actually stands.

Which of these five could you answer right now? Be honest. DM "STRUCTURE" and let's build the dashboard that makes all five instant.

"Everything can be complex. Let's make it simple."

I say that a lot, and I mean it every time.

Not because I don't respect how complicated running a business actually is; I've been doing this for over 20 years, and I still hit things that make my head spin. But somewhere along the way I decided complexity isn't a badge of honor. It's just what happens when nobody's translated it yet.

That's what came up talking with Bailey Cooper about merchant services, of all things. Payment processing, contract terms, termination fees, the stuff most founders glaze over because it feels too technical to bother understanding.

But "too complex to understand" usually just means "nobody's explained it to me in a way that respects my time."

You didn't build a seven-figure business by being incapable of understanding complexity.
You built it by not having the hours to untangle every complicated thing yourself.
Those are two very different problems, and only one of them is actually yours to solve.

Full conversation with Bailey is live now, link in bio. What's the one "complicated" thing in your business you've just been avoiding because nobody's made it simple yet?

Twenty photos, and I still couldn’t fit all the joy into one post. 🗽✨

The photo shoot. My face on a Times Square billboard. Wandering Central Park. Getting lost in the beauty of the New York Public Library. And meeting the incredible women who made this Six Figure Chicks trip so special.

I spend a lot of time thinking about what’s next. This trip reminded me to pause and celebrate how far I’ve come—and let myself enjoy it.

So here’s to new friendships, big dreams, and having the audacity to put yourself in the picture. 🥂💕

New York, you were one for the books. 📚

What outfits will I wear?
Fighting with ChatGPT to find everything.
Ordering clothes that fit, but are not exactly right returning.
New bras

Yes, underwear is essential to a great outfit 😬

The day is finally here!

The flight!

Tomorrow we go live!!!!

I’ll be posting all day on stories!

Q3 just closed. Your books are accurate, your filings are done, and that's exactly the moment most founders stop looking at the numbers until next quarter.

That's the gap. Compliance ends at the close: the historical record is confirmed, correct, filed. Governance starts there. The real question isn't whether Q3 was accurate. It's what Q3 tells you about the next 90 days, whether the hire you're planning still pencils out, whether the cash position supports the expansion you've been sitting on, whether anything in this quarter's numbers should change what you do in Q4.

Most CPA relationships stop at the finish line. We treat the close as the starting point.

If your Q3 numbers just landed and you're not sure what they mean for your next move, DM "STRUCTURE" and let's find out before Q4 is already underway.
