And that was com.unity!

Anytime anyone asks what my dream is, I always say it’s to be @thetracymoore or the women on @thesocialctv. @modecanadarocks let me throw my hat in the show host ring, and while I have years of podcasting experience, this live interview series was different. It was live. I had to deliver for a producer. I had a team supporting me. I had a stylist, image consultants and of course a BOB (that my mom called bobette). This experience was not without its curveballs and hurdles but it was an experience I had been begging the universe to send my way.

I want to profusely thank Len of @delectantofficial for trusting me as the host. Thank you to @stephaniepollard_scott and @memoryun_snap for keeping this machine chugging along. Thank you to @onix.stylist for the vibrant style, @torontodesignersmarket for supplying most looks, @monoxidestyle for most jewellery, @starchildmelly and @flowhaircare for BOBette, and to every single guest who made this show possible for 10 weeks straight! We filmed from Toronto, Fredericton, Montreal and more, with guests joining from Italy, New York, on planes and right in our own back yard. Success takes a village - it takes a community - and I am thank for my com(m)unity 💞

On Wednesday, we discussed nation building on com.unity by @modecanadarocks . Following, I went to @batashoemuseum and saw Roman shoes dating to the Roman Empire, shoes that became the foundation for what we use today. These shoes, part of @officialvindolandatrust’s efforts in archaeological excavation show the remnants and bits of history a nation, and the world, can be built on.

Yesterday I brought my new favourite accessory, BOB, to The Devil Wears Prada 2 Premiere!

ICYMI for the last two weeks I have been hosting com.unity, a virtual interview series produced by @MODECANADAROCKS. A big theme of the film is honest journalism, in-depth questions, and a return to real authenticity. What pulled me into hosting com.unity was this idea of bringing together Canadian powerhouses and Canadian New-Gen talent in various industries relating to fashion and performance. The arts keep this country alive and it’s amazing to see the talent we have. Much like Runway Magazine in @tdwp2, com.unity shares and amplifies the best of the best in our country. It’s an honour to host conversations that align with authentic journalism.

Thank you to Disney, 20th Century Fox and TDWP2 for having me.

Don’t sleep on TRIAL REELS ⬇️⬇️⬇️ They’re a great way to find ideal members of your Instagram community! (We all know the regular reach on IG is hit and miss). Trials really are a trial and error. Most will only get 200 views, but the ones that hit have brought me amazing new friends on here 🫶🏻

1. When you find what works- rinse and repeat. Make a similar video, similar messaging and try it over and over again.
2. Don’t get discouraged. Stuff will fail, but no one who follows you will see it.
3. Don’t repost the same video over and over again, IG will remove it.
4. Keep them short and relatable.
5. Remember that these are videos for people who don’t know you at all.
6. Trending videos and sharable content tends to do well.
7. Duplicate your reel drafts to save from double editing and captioning.
8. Post the trial reel before you post the same in feed- if you do post it in feed.
