vintage IS modest fashion.
We just forgot. And the Harlem vintage is entering innn yall! Can you imagine this gorgeous timeless silk bridal gown

For real though, before modest fashion became a billion-dollar industry, women were wearing long skirts, oversized tailoring, high necklines, long sleeves, layers and beautiful clothes that actually covered them. I love that @modifythrift we get to bring out real vintage pieces, alongside beautul contemporary styles.

But honestly my big tip for new designers is to look back at styles from the 60s, 70s, 80s there’s so much of that I feel will be making a come back in this new age of modest fashion.

Sometimes you don’t realize how much you need to be poured into until you’re in a room full of people who pour into you without even knowing it.

As someone who teaches, mentors, encourages, strategizes, and constantly pours into other people, today reminded me that I need to be poured into, too.

Culture Con, thank you.

And to my fellow creators, entrepreneurs, visionaries, and builders: thank you for pouring into me today.

Through your presence.
Through your stories.
Through your willingness to share.
Through your ideas.
Through your courage to build something of your own.
And simply by sharing space.

Because let’s be honest: entrepreneurship can get lonely.

It’s different when you’re not physically surrounded by people who think big, move with intention, take risks, create opportunities, and understand what it means to have a vision that won’t leave you alone.

Sometimes you don’t need another strategy.

You need to be in the room.

You need community.

You need to be reminded that you’re not crazy, you’re not alone, and there are other people out here building too.

Today, my cup didn’t just get filled.

My cup runneth over.

And I’m grateful.

Happy Small Business Saturday to everyone building something they believe in.

Keep going. Keep creating. Keep pouring. Keep taking baby steps.

And when it’s your turn to be poured into, don’t be too busy pouring to receive.

Love,
HD 🤲🏽🤍✨

P.S. Swipe to the end to see 2 of my sisters I was so excited to see today! 😍😍😍

@culturecon day 1 was such a great experience. It was amazing seeing many of y’all there.

The bag scene was insane. Black women love vintage designer. It was so fun seeing similar bags we’ve had in store.

The outfits were even more amazing. Peep @doctorkrystalredman !!

I seriously cannot begin to tell you how special this was!! Thank you so much to the Women of Bangladeshi Heritage for visiting our thrift store. @modifythrift This was such a highlight reel.

Thank you for your donations, for your energy, and for teaching us the beauty of sisterhood and community. You are all my aunties now, you made me feel like I was your own child, and for that I ask Allah to reward you all so abundantly.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again loudly: the Bangladeshi community in NYC is absolutely unmatched in character and generosity. AllahumaBarik 🤎🤎🤎🇧🇩
