How We Play Live is a two-part event.

During the day, we open things up with talks and conversations about what it really takes to perform electronic music live, from unreliable setups and getting stuck in loops to the relationship between musician and machine.

Daytime programme: Open Access
Thursday 22 October
Club Baggerbeest, Amsterdam

The night programme continues with live performances and is a separate ticketed event.

What does playing electronic music live actually look like?

No two performances are exactly the same. Machines, movement, decisions, mistakes and moments, happening in real time.

I never draw automation curves with the mouse.
I record them live instead.

Same knob, same decay parameter, but played
in real time while the track runs. The curve
that comes out afterward looks nothing like
what you’d draw by hand, and that’s the point.

A hand-drawn curve moves too evenly. A knob
turned live has small timing errors built in.
Those errors are what make it sound played
instead of programmed.

@superbooth_berlin was amazing! I saw a lot and felt the vibe. But where most talk about synths, I thought it would be awesome actually to play them… Here is a track that didn't exist before Superbooth 2026 but does now! Check Analog Kitchen on YouTube.
