When we first formed Discostan, we were hungry to share music that didn’t neatly conform to certain western tropes, such as “world music.” At that time were very few opportunities to hear contemporary music from the Subcontinent, and especially from genre-defying artists.

That’s why we’re so thrilled to be able to present Lifafa and Arushi Jain later this month at the Ford, a gem of an amphitheater nestled in the Hollywood Hills.

Lifafa has created an incredible songbook already, each song a deft mix of genre and style — from confessional harmonium-driven hymns to lustrous synth-pop and 1980s Bollywood glam.

Arushi Jain has created a multitude of worlds, channeling the ambient realms of classical ragas alongside expansive electronic currents.

If you want to hear more from these artists, check out our playlist, now available on YouTube via the link in our bio and in our stories today.

And don’t forget to grab tickets to the show, happening October 24 at the Ford. Hope to see you there!
