Forum | The Imprint x Ushaw Residency & Acquisition Award

How can a place, its history and collections inspire new work?

Imprint is delighted to partner with Ushaw Historic House, Chapels and Gardens in Co. Durham on an annual artist residency programme, inviting artists to explore its extraordinary heritage and create new works of art for the Fair, and for their fascinating Library collection.

Set within 550 acres of Durham countryside, Ushaw is home to a remarkable collection of Gothic Revival architecture, historic objects and archives, with a history spanning more than two centuries.

In summer 2026, artists Tamsin Loxley and Mohammad Barrangi were invited to stay at the historic site, immersing themselves in its buildings, collections and stories as inspiration for their work.

Join us for a special booth talk at Imprint, exploring the residency programme, the artists' experiences and the relationship between place, history and contemporary printmaking.

Mumbai-based gallery Art and Charlie presents Will You Tend This Garden?, a group exhibition for the 12th edition of Asia NOW, featuring Aksh Diwan Garg, Saviya Lopes, Attiya Usman, Yogesh Barve, Deepak Dhiman, Reem Masri, Mohammad Barrangi Fashtami, Nirbhay Raj Soni and Kumar Misal

A garden asks only one thing: do not mistake a single season, or a single cluster of flora, for the whole. This garden does not apologise for its unfamiliarity or its layered histories. South Asian artistic traditions have flowered slowly and stubbornly for centuries. Here, the miniature becomes a living critical language, the domestic textile an archive of resistance, and the portrait a declaration of the right to be seen. It has been tended by those who grew inside it, not by those who arrived to name it. The question this exhibition asks is not one the artists owe you. It is one you owe yourself.

Founded by Ayesha Parikh, Art and Charlie is a contemporary art gallery exploring what lies beyond the traditional white cube. It presents Indian and international artists whose multidisciplinary practices speak to the societal shifts and anthropological inquiries of our time.

We are proud to share that a work by our artist, Mohammad Barrangi, has been selected for the 173rd Annual Open Exhibition at the Royal West of England Academy (RWA) in Bristol, where Barrangi is participating as this year’s Invited Artist.

The Royal West of England Academy (RWA) is one of Britain’s oldest and most respected art institutions, hosting exhibitions each year that bring together the work of contemporary and historic artists.

Creating this large-scale work was a unique and challenging experience for Barrangi, presenting significant technical, emotional, and personal challenges.
