To celebrate its complexity and to remediate its reputation, the Poison Garden has dedicated its entire second issue to Atropa belladonna. Writers and artists from around the world have crafted a complete portrait of this plant with all of its facets. Ecology, science, history, theater, somatics, and art have been woven together to tell its story - and introduce new ideas of its relevance in contemporary culture. They’ve even included a growing guide to help nurture a personal relationship with this powerful plant.

From belladonna in burlesque to an overview of its chemical constituents, this issue has been carefully curated to go far beyond anything that can be found on the internet or in introductory texts. I’m thrilled to announce that it is available just in time for the harvest season, making belladonna’s knowledge accessible once again. (And there’s a complementary linen bookmark, too!)
